Cobra Kai is one of the few soft reboots that doesn't feel like a cash grab. I would recommend you watch it if you can.

Anybody who thinks that 50% of revenue being returned to fighters, as were the conditions of Jake Paul's retirement and one-off UFC fight, being either feasible or intelligent is ********. I'd explain why that is, but nobody listens to me about these things anyway and instead defers to their home-brewed wisdom despite the totality of their business and finance experience being limited to their savings accounts.

The NBA seems to be doing fine considering the athletes get more then 50% of the revenue. And the UFC is owned by a multi billion dollar company so they could survive if they paid their athletes more.

I’m with baldric on this one. It’s not a sensible move no matter how much it would benefit the fighters

My 2 cents

The UFC could easily pay the fighters 50% of they're income, They have to be the most inept company to fail doing so as small promotion can run paying that much, But like Fishrat said, Why the **** would they, To pay the fighter more, mean less to them and being ethical is for the weak

I'm huge on fighter pay, I love how Jake Paul is bringing it up, I don't give a **** about whatever reason he doing it, A good dead a good deed, And someone like Jake Paul with 20 million subscriber bringing this issue to light is awesome, I wish Conor did it also as he be so good for the cause of fighter pay

I'm honesly a Jake Paul fan, Hope he does well at boxing, And if you side with Dana instead of the fighters, Your ********, Why side with the billionaire and not with the fighter, I hope the fighter get what Jake said they should get

The ufc isnt worth even close to what the NBA is, the average NBA team is worth $2.5 billion players with a in season roster limit 15 players. Thats a large difference between 10 billion for 700.

@Casual I don't care anymore TBH. Actually, I care enough to explain why it is I don't care.

Imagine somebody came up to you and said they knew how to cure world hunger.
Thier solution? People just started eating their own poo. And then they'll never be hungry again.

UFC paying their roster 50% of earnings is equivalent to that. It doesn't warrant a response. Suffice to say if you don't understand why that is, you shouldn't even have an opinion on the subject.

It's simply not possible under the current business model, and the kind of business model it would be possible under would result in a product you wouldn't pay for. Either that or it would result in a zero-sum game--in the case the redistributive model that is what is no doubt in your mind was enacted or otherwise. Perhaps UFC should consider the alternative; fractionalise payments based on consumer participation relative to individual fighters abilities to draw. I'm sure people like Chookagian would absolutely love that.

If you want to see a watered down-version of what that would look like, by all means--sit through 6 hours of PFL to watch bums get paid one million dollars to beat other bums between 500 commercial interludes.

People in this thread writing about this **** don't even know what they don't know. Home-brewed wisdom. Take your bongo drums and **** off back to the commune.

Mister I know everything because I do appeared.. There wouldn't be a conversation if that was not possible, UFC nowadays undoubtly generates enough money to pay more, your idea of paying athletes proportionally to what they bring is a good idea and bad idea because its highly impossible to measure whether Jessica Eye is bringing ppvs or not. Imagine paying 12k to a ufc fighter for their appearance and 12 if they win. Isn't it the best league of the most evolving sport in the world? Arent they partnered with United Arab Emirates? 175million dollars for crypto.com deal. Recognizable athletes get paid 300k a fight lets say, they fight 2-3 times a year while 4 is most likely maximum. Way easier to lose your position than in basketball couz its solo sport but nvm. In other sports club pays you for neutritionis, massages, recovery stuff, training gear, dont have to pay money for area your club takes, dont have to pay your coaches and ****. List goes on and on, now compare it to what top mma fighter has to pay for, then compare what recognizable fighter gets for performance, and how much money does basketball, american football or football recognizable player gets a week.

I said it and I'll say it again, UFC is big, they do a lot of things the best way, but I do think there will be other promotion in 4-5 years to compete with it equaly because of issues they generate themselves.
