Stemming off of an earlier forum discussion, who do you think would make great coaches to compete against one another?  I wasn't a fan, originally of Bisping across from Mayhem Miller, but I am really enjoying this season.

Silva vs. Belfort in a Brazil season would be awesome.

But let's be honest, how AWESOME would it be?

And why wouldn't they fight?

Tank Abbott had two fights over the last two weekends?

The UFC needs some throwback flavor.  It's like when the NFL or MLB wears throwbacks.  This will be Dana's throwback event.

@buffalo ben - I'm as serious as a heart attack.  It would be awesome to get the old guys in the ring and let them bash each other.  Gotta have respect for the old guys.  It's like when they have the celebrity softball game before the MLB All-Start game, they bring back the Cooperstown legends.  They can do the same thing for the UFC and it would draw a lot of people to watch.

Randy Couture vs Mark Coleman was awesome, but i'm not interested in any more fights like that. No Tank Abbot for me thanks.

I'm just guessing that you are one of the few of us who have ACTUALLY been watching since ufc 1, and that you miss the golden age

Why would anyone not miss the golden age?  Bob Sapp would kick the crap out of Cain Velasquez.

I'm starting to see trolls slowly starting to ease their way in here. Can we just throw a hammer on this guy and send a message to all potential trolls?

When I joined there weren't any but people keep posting their prediction links in the sherdog forums for the event discussions. I understand that the mods have a lot to do and it's impossible to completely protect the website from such things, but if we want to keep the same type of atmosphere here that all of tapology loves, anytime someone posts something blatantly stupid and trollish such as that, the hammer should swing, no warnings, no dubs. You troll, you're gone. Atleast that's what I would do.

Down the road, here are some possibilities:

Nick Diaz / Carlos Condit
Anderson Silva / Chael Sonnen

But here's another innovation:  Why must the format be determined by the past?  Why must the coaches have to fight at the end of the show?  Why not bring in 2 small groups of competing trainers of celebrity status.

Why not have one group of trainers such as: Dan Severn, Don Frye, Bas Rutten & Mark Coleman, and have them compete with another small nucleus of trainers, such as Royce Gracie, Vitor Belfort, BJ Penn and Big Nog?

All throughout the history of TUF, they have brought in celebrity names, like Tito, Mike Tyson, etc., but these have been the exceptions and not the rule.

Why must a format become locked in and static?  Why not be flexible?  Why not continue to try different formats, and involve the more popular, famous names?  Just because the older guys are not suitable to fight, they have a lot to offer the sport in terms of their training knowlege.  I think the younger guys coming up would be thrilled out of their minds to be gifted with such superior quality training from a nucleus of celebrity trainers.

Any thoughts as to introducing flexibility into the TUF formatting, and bringing exciting celebrity names into the process?
