Rockhold has more ways to win. He much bigger submission threat then Machdia. He also mixes his striking and grappling very well togather. Machida has great TDD, but he not really a threat on the ground or at l;\east has never shown to be. Rockhold has recently shown that he is a big threat on the ground. If Rockhold can mix his striking with his wrestling to make Machida think about the takedown. This will in turn make Rockhold who already has a huge reach advantage more effective in his striking. Personally I think this in a lot of ways is a bad matchup for Machida. I do think Machida has the best striking in the division , but I think Rockholds a close second. He has all the physical advantages and is one of the few guys who might be as fast as machida, but also has a sizable power advantage.

I don't see Machida losing to anyone other than Weidman at this point.

I could see Belfort beating Machida.

I don't think Rockhold will have the speed advantage, but I do think his size and power will give him an advantage against almost everyone at 185. Rockhold is big enough to even nullify Weidman's size advantage that he's been enjoying, I suspect.

Weidman, surprisingly looks quite a bit bigger when he stands next to Rockhold if you ask me. He gives up an inch in height, but has 1inch longer reach and he's just a much thicker guy.

If odds open up and Machida is a dog in this, I may empty my life savings. And it took me a long time to save $159.38.

I am probably on your side here I see rockholds chin being tested again with the victory going to machida.

Lyoto albeit losing to weidman looked VERY good and under the right circumstances could win the rematch.

Very exciting fight!

I'm leaning towards Machida, but I could definitely see Luke winning as Machida tends to struggle with people who have a significant size/reach advantage (Jones, Weidman, even Phil Davis). Skill wise, I think Machida is the much better striker, and should be able to land his shots while moving in and out, but it'll be interesting to see if Luke's reach can nullify him, also whether Luke can get him to the ground.

the Dragon always the Dragon
I like Rockhold and he definitely has the tools to snatch a victory here, but I have no doubt Lyoto will Lyoto and win the fight.

@notsmb to be fair the only one who hasn't had problems dealing with Jones's reach is Gus, and he has almost the same reach.  I didn't see Machida having problems qith Davis or Wideman, he won the foght against Davis, but the judges **** that up, and he did good against Chris, if Lyoto would had stepped on the gas more, he could've taken the fight.

Having said that I think Luke is much better than Davis and I think he is good enough to give Weidman a run for his money and even defeat him, so this should be an interesting fight, I'm sure we'll see something beautiful happen.

Rockhold wins this fight without much trouble IMO. Lyoto's either going to spend the better part of 25 minutes on his back, or get subbed.
