Does anyone know the actual terms yet and what, if anything, goes to the fighters? I've seen a lot of people arguing for and against it, but I haven't been able to form an opinion because I don't know what the fighters are getting out of it, if anything.

If I had to guess, I would think that the $70 million isn't a set in stone number but more of an estimate. Most likely, the UFC determined how many fighters of each tier would fight in a given year and used that in conjunction with the compensation each fighter would get per fight and that is where they came up with the $70 million. It shouldn't affect each fighter whether there are more of less fighters on the roster since their compensation is on a per fight basis. This might actually be a good thing in terms of fighters wanting to take more fights per year since it gives them a set level of compensation, win or lose.

This is also the first real incentive that fighters have had to try to be ranked aside from contract negotiations. So some unranked fighters may be more willing to take more risks by taking on higher level guys since a win could get them ranked and net more money for them but a loss wouldn't negatively affect their sponsorship money.

70 million for 6 years? Those guys at Reebok made Dana their ***** in the negotiations, by god.

Seriously, think about it.

For the next 6 years, Reebok is going to have its brand associated with literally every fighter the UFC ever has in that period. If Conor McGregor becomes the next Muhammad Ali that people keep talking about, Reebok already is making profit.

******* Nike gave Kevin Durant 300 million for 10 years just to own his feet, and Reebok gets to have the souls of almost 1000 televised athletes for half that time? Holy ****.

Furthermore, Reebok can potentially become the 'Everlast' of MMA apparel and have its brand permanently associated with martial arts. If MMA continues to grow the way the UFC's been trying to make it grow, Reebok's brand will grow exponentially.

Just as an example, I remember Reebok becoming really ******* popular around here in 2008 when they got the rights to the NHL jerseys. Reebok Edge made the brand grow so ******* huge in Canada and now the majority of people with hockey equipment buy the Reebok brand just because it's the name they see on the jerseys.

And what does the UFC get out of this? They take one step closer to their ultimate goal of acquiring an army of the most well-trained humans and finally get to try and take over a country to brand as the 'Ultimate UFC gym'. The Nazis wore Hugo Boss, and now the UFC will wear Reebok.

Or they'll just make 70 million dollars. Maybe get a couple of Bugatti's for Dana and the boys and then watch the MMA clothing brands drop out of the business like flies.

Well, obviously the deal wasn't going to be as lucrative as an NBA or NHL deal. MMA as a whole, let alone the UFC, isn't on the level of the NBA or NHL as entities -- yet. Reebok definitely had the leverage in this deal, there is no doubt about that. This was bound to happen, (seeing as the sport is growing) and we live in a capitalist society. Successful corporations didn't become successful by making ****** deals for themselves. The deal will ultimately benefit the UFC and Reebok, the fighters? We'll see.  Equating the Nazi party to the UFC is a bit of a stretch though

The Nazi thing was a joke that I tried to make look obvious...if it flew by you I really can't help you. The only person I can bet who'd think the UFC would be trying to stage coup d'etats in Ireland or some **** is wolf.

I'm just amazed at how MUCH Reebok was able to take from the UFC, pretty impressive.

Brendan Schaub briefly discussed the Reebok deal on Joe Rogan's podcast. According to Schaub he currently gets paid double his UFC money in sponsorship money. His reported pay this weekend was $32k, which would mean he made $64k from sponsorships.

45 events * 10 fights per event * 2 fighters per fight = 900 payouts from the Reebok deal per year (low-balling it)

$70 million / 6 / 900 is about $13,000 per fighter. If what Schaub is saying is true, this deal could be real bad for the mid-tier fighters.

Schaub also stated he lost six of his sponsors for the Travis Browne fight and made the least he's made in sponsorship money in his UFC fights.

Will there still be locker room bonuses?

@rappinpapsoda I imagine that locker room bonuses will actually increase with the Reebok deal.

I don't see any reason for the locker room bonuses to not be given. This is simply taking the place of the current sponsor program.

Nah. Reebok is reputation/ranking based, locker room bonuses directly correlate to the fight. You have a **** fight, still get that sponsor money, but probably not any bonus.

So, is everyone going to be wearing the same style shorts? I mean it is what it is, but I will miss the way it was before a little. The less like mainstream team sports it is, the better for my enjoyment.

What happens when a guy (namely a Diaz brother) decides not to wear the ****? That's obviously gonna happen.

he gets to take another vacation , because Dana wont fire him so he can bring ratings to Bellator and he wont let him fight without it.

I'm about 100% certain that happens. I can't remember when Schaub said the Reebok stuff started happening. Seems like he said January? If so, I fully expect Nick Diaz to not be wearing Reebok gear when he walks out to fight Anderson. Dear Reebok, sorry about the Diaz bros. They march to the beat of their own drummer and he's being smoking dat sticky icky for a while.
