He better win after pulling this ****. Long layoff + contract holdout + skipping obligations + losing fights = probably not going be employed in the UFC for long.

I would ask how that's relevant, but I don't want to know anything more about that guy than what I learned in the thumbnail for the video.

All that aside....

The point I was trying to make. is you have people who are putting on a fake persona for attention or to get certain following in the UFC. I don't believe that Nate Diaz is that guy.

The video of the idiot I posted however, poser.

Oh, I get it now. Should have just said Jon Jones. I think that would have been more widely recognized.

he has no problem asking for more money, but when he's asked to do his job he acts like a 13 year old (and yes, he knew upfront his job isn't just fighting, it's all the bells and whistles, he could've just said, I don't like that part of the job so I won't take your money and retire).

Instead he opts to skip the bells and whistles ******** and just show up come fight time. He's professional in that he makes weight, and always puts on excellent fights. Along with his brother. They just don't give a **** to participate in the promotion part of it, because it doesn't interest them. Is it part of the job that they should do? Yeah, definitely, but to me it's awesome that they stay true to who they are and just say "**** it". It's one of the things that makes people love them or hate them, which causes people to tune in to either cheer for them, or hope they get the **** beat out of them. They're not the best speakers anyway, and while it's not fair that other guys have to do all that ******** while they feel like they don't have to. It's almost better that they don't, because them not showing up is better promotion than them showing up and stumbling through sentences when asked questions, or half assing an open workout/*****ing the whole time. Their antics are bad for the sport and good for it at the same time. That said, I agree about the money thing. Even though he is grossly underpaid, he signed the contract, and he can't honestly expect to get paid more money if he can't even hold up his end of the bargain when it comes to press conferences, open workouts, etc.

I agree about signing contracts, he put the pen to the paper so he's gotta live with it, but....  It was still pretty ****** up by the UFC to not negotiate, just hand the papers for a lengthy 9 fight deal for less than he's worth and if he didn't sign it he would be pulled from the title fight against Benson Henderson.   His whole camp was disrupted as he didn't even know for sure he was getting the title shot for sure until about 3 weeks before the fight and that was because he'd only get it if he allowed them to bend him over a barrel on the contract.  Who knows what would've happened had he beat Benson, maybe the contract would've been different with bonuses or escalators for ownin some Zuffa gold.  Regardless, he was definitely preyed on by the UFC in contract negotiations telling him he has to sign that 9 fight underpaid contract or no title shot.  Not the best negotiating ploy to leverage taking away the title shot unless he let them work him over on # of fights and $$$ per fight.  Well at least not the best negotiating ploy if you intend to keep said employee happy.  Any worker knows when they're getting ****** over, I wouldn't doubt if it started out as a 12 fight contract for even less money and that was a compromise.

You basically have to sign whatever you're offered when you're yanked from a title shot if you don't.  And we all know title shots seem to never come back around to people who end up not getting theirs for one reason or another.  I think the UFC obviously knew they were going to have Nate resent them and not appreciate the way they handled the contract negotiations.  Can't really say it was negotiated in good faith when they basically could get him to sign anything since there was no way he could pull out of his title fight.  They knew it and used it against him.  I'm sure people differ on how they feel about the way the UFC used the title shot against him to guarantee he signed whatever they wanted him to with no regard for how it would affect the dynamic of their relationship down the road.  Personally, I think it's pretty ****** up of an employer to lowball money and highball # of fights basically guaranteeing being considered by most to be underpaid for the next 3 years or so or the title shot is gone.  Sure Nate put the pen to the paper but he literally had no choice.  They kinda did him dirty...
