Prediction: wrong Poirier   wrong Submission   wrong Round 3

Unrelated, but Pettis' total fight time in UFC over 3+ years is less than 39 mins. Compare to Bendo's ~182 mins of fight time in a slightly shorter time frame.

As far as Frankie goes, I do love the guy, and I do think he beats Swanson, but a return to LW would be suicide, you guys. He ruled LW before the UFC was saturated with wrestlers, and guys cut a lot less weight. I mean, the days of cutting 10-15 lbs are over, just because there are so many guys who can and will cut more. If you don't cut at least 20, you're going to come in noticeably smaller in most cases. And especially if you fight with a more grappling-heavy style, you just can't afford that. I do agree Pettis can't wrestle though.

But Edgar vs Khabib is a slaughtler. Not only is Khabib clearly the better wrestler, but he's also way bigger. Frankie gets stapled to the mat in that one. But that fight would never get booked.

Also, what is the subject of this thread anymore? Haha

I disagree. Pettis in my eyes is a constant threat off of his back to attempt submissions or scrambles and while he may not be at Carlos Condit's level (who in my eyes is the best fighter off of his back in the UFC) he is still someone who can explode out at any time. Clay Guida's frantic pace allows him to stick to fighters like glue but Guida was also very content with staying inside Pettis' closed guard, which was the problem for Pettis in that fight.

Don't get me started on Pettis' striking; just, wow. Is there a better user of body strikes in the game than Anthony Pettis? As much as his kicking game is talked about, the man also happens to be one of the best boxers in the UFC as well. He just really needs to work on his wrestling, because his striking game makes him so susceptible to takedowns.

@Anik I think we are saying the same thing about his ground game. Different sides of the same coin so to speak haha. He is good, but I don't see him threatening anyone that has good top control and submission skills.

His body striking is awesome.

Wait...what?

Benson Henderson has arguably the best top game in the lightweight division today. He's also notorious for being impossible to submit because of his gumby-likeflexibility, ridiculously strong neck (Frankie Edgar's guillotine would've tapped out pretty much anyone else), heart and determination.

Now if I remember correctly, it took Anthony Pettis a solid 20 seconds to submit Benson Henderson off of his back...

Two of my favorite fighters.. McGregor is good but you can't count Poirier out. Easily performance of the fight. This shoulda been a headliner for another night.

Why would he choke the train unconscious if he can just get McGregor off the train first? Silly.

Hell yeah, tonight is the night. Can't wait. Conor looks pumped up. I think he controls it really well though. Guessing Poirier will be really wild and pay the price.

As for my Pettis comments. I didn't say he can't submit anyone. Him and Ben were in a scramble from that cartwheel kick Pettis threw and he latched on to the arm during that scramble. Ben never had top control on him. I'm just saying if some of these wrestlers  that can grapple get him down and get top control I think they can avoid his submissions....like Clay "Chael Sonnen Light" Guida was able to do.
