I´m not sure what´s more worrisome, Mir assuring us that his training is ideal because he is training ¨smarter¨ rather than ¨harder¨, or Overrom assuring us that he is back on track because he went by himself to Thailand, since braking ties with credible gyms where other high level mma fighters train always improves one´s chances.

@Hobo

Why the F, have you only picked so few every event? Everyone else on this site can get a higher picking rating with that kind of picking. :)

Just a big ass troll to do what you're doing and thinking that you are the most awesome picker :D That's funny!

What pisses me off about Overeem is that he is one of the greatest talents that has ever appeared in MMA, and yet he is completely unable to stop losing matches that he absolutely shouldn't. Overeem is one of the best strikers in the heavyweight division, his grappling is pants-****tingly good and he is (yes, currently) faster and stronger than pretty much anyone in the division except for Cain and Junior. He should be up there with them, not fighting a slow, plodding zombie that was once Frank Mir.

In theory, at this point in their careers, Mir has nothing for Overeem save for a puncher's chance. Even if he decides to follow Mir to the ground Alistair could reasonably, and this is coming from someone who predicted Chael Sonnen to submit Shogun, tire Mir out, overpower him, get some GnP going and tap him out. This is a gimme fight, but meh, so were the last two.

Chael Sonnen and Alistair are the most frustrating fighters to be a fan of. Chael Sonnen is a great grappler and competent striker who falls for white belt jiu jitsu techniques and mentally breaks when the first thing that he didn't plan to happen happens (heck, he admittedly lost the first round to Bisping because Bisping placed his head in a position that was illegal in wrestling, although I have no idea of what that position was) and Overeem... I don't know what the issue with him is, really. He gasses fast, sure, but that doesn't explain why he jumped into Werdum's guard and stayed there for several minutes until he was submitted. He might be ********.

I don't think his last fight was a gimme at all. Browne is as legit as it gets in the HW division and he's still improving. Reem should have beat Bigfoot but was way too ****y. Overeem is everything you say he is but he has to check his ego at the door and commit himself to being the best he can be. He's in the top 5 if he can do that. A win over Mir tomorrow night is a good way to start climbing back up.

Well, I'll have to correct that. Browne is a gimme fight to absolutely no one at this point, but the fight sounded like an easy one for Reem at the time. Still, I think he could and should have won that fight.

I'm expecting this to be over quickly. Two all time greats with suspect chins.

Prediction: correct Overeem   wrong KO/TKO   wrong Round 1

I think this fight will end midway through Round 1 and I expect to see a knockout.

I don't see Mir submitting Reem, his best chace of victory in my opinion is stand and bang with the K1 champ.

If this fight would've taken place during Mir's resurgence into the HW ranks when he defeated Brock Lesnar and Big Nog the first time then I would say Mir will win this fight without any doubt, but here lately, since his loss to JDS, Mir has not been the same fighter in any way, shape, or form.

The same could be said for Alistair Overeem though, and if the fight would've take place when Mir was still relevant to the HW division, Overeem was on a tear at the same time defeating Fabricio Werdum and Brett Rogers, but now I just don't know with either fighter.

Overeem looked good in the weigh-ins, and Mir's style plays right into the hands of Overeem, but Overeem's style plays right into Mir's hands as well. We know that conditioning is not going to be a factor in this fight, because both fighters usually gas after the first round.

We know that Mir is more susceptible to being knocked out, because look at what Barnett did to him. We know that ever since Overeem got popped for roids kicking him out of the JDS title fight, he's been KO'd twice by fighters that many of us thought that Overeem would defeat easily.

I think that if the fight gets outside of the first round, the 2nd round will play more into MIr's favor, but if there is no finish after that, we know that the 3rd round is going to be boring because both fighters will be horribly gassed. I think that if Barnett can finish Mir inside the first round, then Overeem will more than likely do the same.

This is a tough pick. It depends on which Mir and which Overeem shows up. Overeem hasn't looked that great lately and Mir has the tendency to not be the smartest fighter sometimes.

Overeem all the way. He was ahead in his last two losses until he got ko'd. Mir doesn't have the ability to ko Overeem. It could turn into a different fight if it doesn't end early with Overeem gasing

Mir doesn't have the ability.to KO Overeem? Heh, Im not sure about that, weather he does or not is a different story.

Any competent striker can break Overeem's glass chin, Mir included.

That's not true. He's a K1 champion. Many competent strikers there.

Mir hasn't defeated anyone via punches since 2008. Before that it was 2004. In fact Mir only has 3 ko/tko's in 24 fights
