Congrats Thiago.  I would have called them all right, but for some damn reason I picked against Curran.  Before the fight even started, I was asking myself, "What the hell was I thinking?"  Hmm, maybe I was more buzzed than I thought when I made my picks.

It was the Bezara/Jones fight I didn't pick.  Was there a last minute opponent change?  My internet was down again so I couldn't check for last minute changes or make picks for like 2-3 events.  Oh faking well... I'm out of the weekend running.

Heh of all people on the main card to get a desicion, it was Marlon Sandro. And a Split Desicion at that.

Good event to watch. Hard to pick a favourite. I'd still go with Sandro despite him being the only guy to not get a finish. I think that low blow he suffered slowed him down and allowed GDS to almost get back in the fight.

I really wish I couldn't have seen that fight.  How did Sandro look up until the low blow?  Those really do take a lot outta ya.

He looked dominant. Not quite a one-sided fight but still Sandro was clearly winning the rounds. He almost finished in the first round but chose to go for a sub instead of GnP and GDS was able to escape.

Ronnie Mann is 2nd fave to win in my opinion. He would have been 1st but he kept getting tagged by Adam Schindler, who to me isn't a technical striker but someone who swings wildly.

He got tagged 1 good time iirc but it really didn't rock him.

Sandro was landing pretty well, I think it's more of Da Silva is a legit striker and clearly has a good chin to survive that 1st round.

I'm actually leaning towards Malegarie > Sandro in the semis, his TD's looked much improved since the loss to Straus. If Malegarie can get the TD's he could probably control Sandro on the mat. Haven't made my pick yet.

I think the matchup vs. Sandro is a terrible one for Naz.  His takedowns did look much improved last night, but Sandro is a NU black belt who can hang on the ground, and will probably be able to stuff Naz's shots.  Also, that single leg TD of Naz (which I'll admit won him the fight last night) is gonna line him up nicely for a Sandro uppercut, which has turned so many japanese featherweights into internet memes over the last couple years.  Long story short, the gap between these two fighters is much smaller on the floor (Naz's game) than on the feet (Sandro's game).  Ive got Sandro by decapitation.

I see Sandro in the finals. Who the other person would be I don't really know as you could make a case for any of the semi finalists.

I like Curran.  Ronnie is good and has a lot of potential but I think Curran has the better all around game.  He'll have the wrestling and jits advantage, which is nice to have in your back pocket when going up against a striker.  I think Curran will try it out on the feet, see how it goes, and if he's not getting the better of it there, take it to the floor.  Either way, I see a Sandro vs. Curran final, which I think will end up being a legit contender for fight of the year.

I agree. I like Ronnie more, but I think the standup is pretty even, but Curran will have the definite wrestling and ground advantage.

I know Sandro is a BB in BJJ but I haven't seen much of his ground game, actually I have seen a whopping 1 fight of his(Da Silva) and his HL reels. I know it won't be easy for Naz to get the TD but I think he could control Sandro on the mat, I wouldn't expect a submission. Sandro by KO is probably the most likely outcome, but if the odds were over +400 I'd go for the huge upset award cause I could see Naz winning a decision with top control.

You've def. got that right.  That's the one way Naz can win is ground control, which is a good bet with odds like that.  I doubt the line will be that heavy, but I'm sure he'll be an underdog.  Sandro is one of my favorite fighters (I dont have many) and I've seen a ton of his fights.  He very rarely hits the floor.  The standing arm triangle submission of Nick Denis was pretty fantastic though.  He's so much like his other two featherweight teammates Diego Nunes and Jose Aldo: strikers first with solid, black belt jiu jitsu as a back up.  Nova Uniao has quite the stable.
