Markes is good on top, but I don't think he'll be able to get there against a beast like Vemola. My early prediction is Vemola by tko, but I wouldn't be surprised if Vemola's conditioning isn't too good, considering his body mass. I'll probably stick with Vemola though.

I think Vemola is overrated for smashing Seth Petruzelli.

If this fight lasts more then 3 minutes he's going to lose.

Vemola is an ax. Markes is a scalpel.

Markes hasn't faced any really tough competition yet, but he's really accurate with his hands, slick BJJ and above average cardio(from what I've seen when he fought Filho). He reminds me a little of a LHW Nick Diaz.

As a matter of fact, I'm changing my pick to Markes. I think he'll gas Vemola out and put him away.

Never seen Markes so i'm not too sure, but Vemola is a scary guy. I don't know which of his weapons is more devastating, his right-cross or eye-cross?

Markes is a wrestler. He has decent submissions and power. His biggest weaknesses are probably his stand up (which is solid) and his jiu jitsu (which was good enough to get past Paulo Filho, so it can't be too bad). He probably is not as good of a wrestler as Vemola, but his conditioning is probably better.

edit: didn't mean to contradict Geezhound about his Jiu Jitsu, but I think he's just a purple belt and he has been sub'd before, and put in a few bad spots in other fights.

Vemola is fairly easy to plan for in theory. I think it may endup being a drawn out positional dominance.

both these guys have fought alot of cans so i took the fighter who beat them faster. when did filho switch to 205?(he was markes last win) he was small for a middleweight.

Agree with a lot of people here. A Vemola R1 finish wouldn't be surprising at all, and I think it's the most likely way he'd win. I'd favor Markes past the first round though. May change this pick.
