Velasquez's confidence is his worst enemy. He studied all his previous fights... He's a workaholic. you kinda contradict yourself in that post @jesusman

Many people think that being a perfectionist is healthy for your mental health. It's not. I'm actually studying in psychology and the first signs of a lack of confidence (DSM-IV) is being obsessed with your past accomplishments.
There is a really interesting book about it : Applied Sport Psychology : Personal Growth to Peak Performance by Jean. M Williams

In a rematch I see Dos Santos not getting clipped early, and eventually ko/tko Cain. A non-rocked Dos Santos won't get taken down a fraction as easily

Look at Antonio Silva...He looked like **** in his first UFC fight...He said in a interview in Brazil that he was ready for Roy Nelson not Cain Velasquez...Now look at him today. He Knocked Brown and Overeem.
When Cain fought Junior Dos Santos. Junior Dos Santos looked like **** in the rematch. Junior was going trough a divorce with his wife/manager... I believe he's going to dominate Mark Hunt.

JDS had a bunch of **** plaguing him going into that last fight with Cain. ****, doesn't every fighter? But that's not why he lost. Cain was simply the better man that night. Cain did his homework on how to solve the puzzle that was Junior Dos Santos, and JDS didn't do his homework on how to beat the Cain he was about to face. JDS made the same classic blunder that many fighters have made in rematches where the winner of the first won so easily and/or dominately, that they just figured the rematch was going to be just as easy, and that they could beat their opponent the exact same way that they did the last time.
JDS made the same mistake that Randy Couture/Chuck Liddell, Matt Hughes/GSP, BJ Penn/Matt Hughes, Andrei Arlovski/Tim Sylvia, and Kevin Randleman/Mirko Cro-Cop are just a few of those type of scenarios that come to mind where the similiar thing has happened in the rematches of these fights.
Velasquez grew from his defeat, and worked hard to become a more complete fighter, and fix mistakes and holes in his overall fight game, meanwhile JDS was preparing for, what he thought, was the same Cain that he defeated so easily to gain the title the first time. You factor in that JDS also defended his title so easily against Frank Mir, then all the hype that people around the world were giving JDS, it was just way too easy for JDS to become complacent in thinking that he was unbeatable. Unfortunately, Dos Santos found out the hard way, that noone is unbeatable.
