How does the ufc justify paying him that amount. I think he was the 4th lowest paid on the entire card.

I would be careful not to read that much into this number.  He's probably still fighting under his TUF-winning contract, but a majority of his compensation could be separate from this.

It's ironic, this is what Tito Ortiz was complaining about as to why he wouldn't fight Chuck Liddell the first time. I personally think it was all just a ruse to the fact that Tito was deathly afraid of Chuck, but in an interview during the countdown to the 2nd Chuck Liddell fight, Tito was talking about how he was only getting about $2,000 for fighting Ken Shamrock, and that was the biggest PPV buy in UFC history at that time, so he thought man if ZUFFA is making that much money off of Tito vs. Ken, imagine what they'll make off of Tito vs. Chuck. He demanded a cut of the PPV buys, and that's what started the fallout between Tito and Dana White.

Who knows, maybe Tito wasn't just whining and telling stories. With Roy Nelson's tweet, I think it just proves that MMA fighters still aren't getting paid what they are really worth. Roy Nelson get's $15,000 for fighting Frank Mir, while Arthur Abraham gets $150,000 for boxing Andre Ward? Doesn't quite seem fair does it?

Proof in the putting that MMA fighters need a union like MLB for baseball, NBA for basketball, and NFL for football.

I think it is completely irrelevant about the "other" stuff.  His base salary is a joke.  I commented on the news section about this.  How can you justify paying Roy a base of 15 g's?  I don't care what other money is involved... it is involved in all other fighters.  I agree w/ the TS... its sad.

Roy is fighting on the TUF contract still...Rashad Evans made $12,000 to show and $12,000 to win in his first 4 fights after winning TUF followed by $16,000 grand to fight Tito in his 5th fight post TUF....Financially it may have been the worst thing for Roy to win TUF!

I think that the UFC has made Nelson a celebrity and he has made a ton of money since TUF, also he made 15 grand for a 15 minute fight, i know he had training camps and whatever but he made this career decision and also he lost the fight.  I know UFC fighters are underpaid but look at Chris Lytle, i dont think Nelson would complain if he got a 60 grand KOTN bonus

I would have thought he'd be further up the pay scale, $32000 maybe (for a loss).

@Soccer.. you're right, but Rashad was on TUF 1 many years ago. You'd think the pay scale would have gone up over the years... especially since the growth of the company.

@Kallous.. I did not!.. but I gave u a thumbs up now to even it out!

@Soccer.. That 3 grand increase only pays for the increase is gas!  LOL!  Seriuosly though, I just think with all the positives and all the growth, the winner of the TUF show should do a little better than that ya know?

The TUF contract goes up after every win unfortunately Nelson hasn't won his last couple. He's actually only won 1 fight since winning TUF. He's also been facing too high a level of competition for his current skill.

he gets more than 15,000. that's just the disclosed amount. he's still off his TUF contract, which most fighters make that much when they win TUF. not to mention sponsors money. and although he's fighting big names, he hasn't been living up to expectations by dana.
