Danzig vs. Guillard

This is the official discussion thread for Danzig vs. Guillard. Let's see what you've got.

Christ, what a tough fight to pick.   It all depends on which fighters show up here, which with these two guys, is impossible to tell.  I think I got Danzig for now.


I think Carmouche/Andrade being on the main card still, would have something to do with the exciting and historically significant fight Carmouche had with Rousey.  I think the UFC knows they have something with Carmouche (who's proven to be exciting) and probably want to reward her with a main card bout.

 It's somewhat similar to Forrest Griffin getting on the main card of a PPV with Bill Mahood and Elvis Sinosic (clearly one sided bouts) right after the TUF 1 finale.  That's the way I see it anyway.    And like how Forrest became a star with the Griffin/Bonnar fight, I think Carmouche could become a star in her own right after Rousey/Carmouche.  Who knows?

Course, I could be way off and sound like an idiot too, but I think I'd rather see Liz dominate on the main card than watch Schaub wrestle**** Mitrione or watch Guillard and Danzig possibly both be underwhelming

If the good version of Melvin shows up, he should win this IMO.

If the Guillard that has been showing up for majority of the last what .. 2 years(?) shows up, then I think Danzig will not have to worry much here. I think Danzig is fairly underrated. His loss to Gomi was incredibly close and Danzig stood in the pocket with him. At this point in their careers I think Gomi is a bigger threat than Melvin is. This could be Mac's biggest win of his career.

 

Well I'll correct myself. Guillard didn't look terrible against Jamie Varner, it was a great fight. But he is very hit or miss.

I like Danzig, and I don"t think the submission will be quick as all of Guillards other because of his fight with varner wouldn't be surprised if danzig got decision or guillard got decision.

I think Danzig finds a way, of course that'll be the way that everyone finds when they beat Melvin lol. Either Melvin gets subbed or Mac gets tagged, I would be shocked if this fight finishes any other way.

Guillard only really loses to guys that are really good in one area...I don't think Danzig has anything to finish Melvin...

Have a feeling this won't be anything spectacular, but i think Guillard will have the better performance and get a decision win.

You can't just keep blaming it on his camps, their are plenty of successful dudes that train with the BlackZilians.

I think Guillard is on his way to bellator,as long as Danzig fights smart he will not loss this fight that being said I see him catching Guillard early,1st round KO.

It will be interesting to see what 3+ months at Grudge has done to Guillard.

Melvin should win this, I just need to decide on whether or not he gets a finish here.

Danzig hasn't submitted someone since UFC 83, I find it hard to believe majority of Danzig pickers are picking submission. Since Guillards loss to Miller I've seen major improvements in sub defense. If Camoes couldn't get a sub on Melvin, Danzig wont. He is not of ground caliber of a Jim Miller, Lauzon, or Diaz.  Guillard by KO or cruising decision.

I agree Melvin looked way better agianst Varner and nearly submitted him at the end with a scissor choke so i don't see Danzig subbing him

Danzig by decision.  Guillard rarely comes in with a gameplan.

I have Guillard now, but I have no confidence in that pick whatsoever.

I get the feeling that no matter who I pick in this fight I'm going to be wrong. Absolutely anything could happen in this fight.
