Maybe I'm missing it but I don't see this being discussed. I thought Machida beat Rampage and there's no question he beat Randy!

So what's next for him and where does he stand at 205?  Shogun, Griffin, Rashad, Davis, Rampage, Nogueira, Franklin, Jones, Hamill, Ortiz, and Bader are all booked.  What does that even leave?

Should they put Machida against Matyushenko to keep re-building his image? Or wait for one of the guys listed above? If so, who and do you think he'll be fighting for the title again soon?

Personally I think he still could be the #2 guy before long.

He's a threat to any fighter and could beat anyone but Shogun imo. I can't see him fighting Matyushenko since they have a history and are friends. He beat Rampage in my opinion too and could beat anyone on that list. The toughest fight would be Jones.
I honestly don't know who they'll give him but it wouldn't surprise me if it was Machida/Shogun 3. Which I don't like because it'll be another loss on his record and will be a challenging feat.

Hmm I would like to see Machida get another fight scheduled sooner rather than later.  Given the circumstances I think a lesser-known light heavyweight could be fine, just to keep him active and keep him getting back on track.

Maybe Gustaffson, maybe Bonnar. Would kind of suck for those guys. But I think it's either wait, or take a name like that.

I agree with @Gregory and would put him up against someone like the Janitor/Gustaffson/Diabate.  Diabate/Machida would be a nice stand up fight.  If they can not plug him in somewhere soon with someone not scheduled, then I think the appropriate fight would be the winner of Hammil/Rampage due to them fighting in just a few weeks.

I know Lyoto trains with Anderson and Anderson trains with the Nog brothers. Dont mean to sound ignorant but does Lyoto train with the Nogs as well? If not, id like to see Machida fight little Nog.

Lil Nog is scheduled to fight in August though.  I was hoping they wouldn't leave him on the shelf that long.

Good opportunity for a ufc vs. strikeforce matchup

I would like to see him fight either Hendo or Mousasi. Other than that the winner of Rampage/Hamill.

Machida/Franklin makes the most sense if they want to get him fighting again soon...I don't see anyone any further down then Ace being an acceptable opponent for Machida if they want to move him back to title contention

Ace is scheduled to fight in August too though.  Just not a lot of options for Machida at the moment unless they do a SF/UFC fight like @gsp stated or do something like Gregory and I stated.

Vinny just won the belt in M1.  I see him defending it a few times then coming back sometime next year.  If they take from a promotion, it will be SF first.  Who do you think from SF is worthy?
