This was mentioned in another thread, but It's on Sherdog now so I guess it's official.  Prindle/Santos again for the interim belt?

That's about the only option for a new champion, I guess.

Sounds like he found a steady job and doesn't want to **** it up. I for one commend him for thinking about his long term future.

Bellator's HW division is one of the weakest divisions ever for a major promotion and it just lost its one solid talent

Bellator should really just scrap their HW division. I was cool with watching Konrad roll through whoever they managed to put in front of him, but now what's the point?

Also just reported on twitter:

Ariel Helwani ‏@arielhelwani

As first reported by @guicruzzz, Big Nog vs. Dave Herman has been agreed to by both parties for 153. This will not be the main event.

^^^This should be a hell of a fight.

Actually, the solution to this problem is simple.  Whoever wins the next Heavyweight tournament is the new champion.

Unlike with the Lightweight and Welterweight tournaments, where you can tell Bellator pretty much sandbagged as they get through the final season on MTV2, they actually appeared to try with the Heavyweight tournament (other than leaving Vitaly Minakov out).  So they have for the most part their best Heavyweights in this tourney.

Unfortunately, the problem there, and this will show just how far behind the UFC Bellator really is, if you do that, there's a 1 in 8 chance that Mike Wessel (who couldn't even get out of the 1st round in a Ultimate Fighter season that had one of the weakest casts in the shows history) becomes the Heavyweight champion in the 2nd biggest fight organization in the world...

As for Konrad, well good luck buddy.  I'll give him credit for looking at his long-term life plans here.  But yeah, for Bellator, this isn't good.

Although the silver lining here is that they have a good chance at having Brett Rogers, a bigger name and probably more marketable than Konrad was, as a champion, which likely doesn't happen if Konrad stays in MMA.

Rogers more marketable? NCAA champion is far more marketable than a woman beater

I agree Live2, unfortunately that's not the way they spin the Brett Rogers story. Even though he's been arrested for domestic abuse they'll still try to push him as the "everyday joe" that worked at lowes and now is an MMA star. All that crap.

agree with you @trae, i think he's fought as a heavyweight before anyway. this would be good for Bjorn Rebney, he can now have a guy holding the LHW and HW titles if King Mo wanted to do it. Wouldn't surprise me either.

haha. if he could make the cut to 185 (he'd have to come close to killing himself) then he'd probably beat everyone at MW.
