Honestly I would of much prefered seeing Hendo, Werdum or even Mark Hunt step in than Mir.

Don't get me wrong I am a fan of Frank Mir but I don't think any of us think he has then chin to take on JDS

I don't see why people are complaining about Mir getting a title shot saying he cant win. If fights were made going by the chance that a fighter has to win, we wouldn't get moments like GSP/Serra, Cro Cop/Gonzaga, etc etc.

The fight is a huge downgrade but it's obviously not a joke.  It was the only choice for the UFC.  Mir has a name and is on a winning streak.

Direct your frustration at Overeem.

@greg ya I get what you're saying. On paper Frank Mir was the best person for the job and I will honestly probably route for him but I just really do not think he has what it takes to win.

Cain vs Werdum would be sweet!

However I don't know if he would pass up a chance to fight in his homeland if it's not for a belt. Even though a win against Cain would put him next in line for a title shot for sure!

I would like to say Struve, but he is not ready by a long shot. Though maybe another KO loss will help him DEVELOP HIS JAB and make him learn to USE HIS REACH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, we went from a guy with a questionable chin to a guy with a questionable chin. Only difference is, Mir has a better chance of winning because he can definitely submit JDS if it gets to the ground. JDS wasn't ever going to be knocked out by Overeem, his chin is too damn good, and Overeem has been KO'd by fighters with WAY less power than JDS. This is a much more interesting fight to me than the one we would have seen had Overeem not failed his tests. I like Mir more than JDS, and I don't think I'll be picking against Mir, but I honestly think JDS will probably knock him out.

I'm not going to say that Overeem doesn't have a questionable chin but he's been TKO'd or KO'd only one time in 17 MMA fights at heavyweight or openweight and one time in 11 K-1 fights in that time-frame.  So only twice in 28 MMA/K-1 fights over the last 5 years (and he also KO'd both of the guys that did KO him in that time-frame being Badr Hari & Sergei Kharitonov).  I do think his chin has improved with his 60 pound gain of mass considering he'd lost to strikes 7 of his last 14 fights prior to fighting above 205.  7 of 14 losses to strikes to 2 of 28 is a big enough sample size for me to assume his chin or at least striking defense has improved drastically.

@ crum.. Mir does terrible against wrestler with immense power. JDS is not a massive wrestler with immense power.  JDS is a is a striker. Mir has a good chance.

Frank Mr; in reality he has 2 disassociated loses due to his crazy motorcycle accident so I dont think much about his loses to Cruz and Vera. other than that, his only loses are to 2 massive wrestlers with crazy power. Frank Mir is a TRUE heavyweight legend. No other UFC heavyweight (including Couture) has the resume Frank mir does. JDS is beatable. JDS does not have crazy wrestling, and Mir is bigger and stronger than JDS. On top of that, Mir has a obvious advantage on the ground, and an obvious advantage in experience. Do not count Frank Mir out.
