Dan Root is an American Mixed Matrial Artist, fighting out of Team Ground Control in Baltimore, Maryland. Root is a former NCAA division III wrestler for SUNY Cortland, and was also a two-time NJCAA qualifier while at Niagara County Community College. A purple belt in BJJ, Dan has won the NAGA grappling tournament 3 times in the 200lb. division, and has also won a Grapplers Quest Absolute Division tournament.
Dan began his Pro MMA career in 2009, being submitted by Eli Garschnick. He'd win his next, only to be submitted again, this time by Joey Kirwan. Root has not lost since, bringing his record to 8-2. He has wins over a few notable names such as Diego Peclat, Brian Van Hoven, and most recently Noe Quintanilla. Root has finished all 8 of his opponents, 7 by submission and has never gone the distance.
