Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Sheldon Westcott competed intensively in Track and Field, he began BJJ in High School as a way to better his athleticism, but soon fell in love with the sport.

Westcott competed on as a Middleweight for Team Canada, on The Ultimate Fighter Nations: Canada vs. Australia, he made it to the finale through his grappling abilities, winning both fights via submission. He was awarded Performance of the Season, with his submission victory over Vik Grujic.

Westcott went into the Finale as the favourite, but lost to fellow Canadian, Elias Theodorou.

It has been a year since Westcott fought Theodorou and has since dropped down to Welterweight - like many previous TUF fighters.

Westcott made his UFC Welterweight debut at  UFC Fight Night 64: Gonzaga vs. Cro Cop 2, where he faced the Polish native, Paweł Pawlak. Westcott was dominated in the striker portion of the fight and spent most of his time holding Pawlak up against the fence; a very disappointing showing on his part. He lost the fight via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).
