Erson comes from a wrestling background, having started when he was 3 years old. He won the 69kg (152 lbs) division in Greco-Roman at the 2013 FILA Cadet World Championships. He trains for wrestling in Budapest, Hungary and is looking to compete at the 2020 Olympics. 


Erson comes from a family of elite wrestlers. He is the grandson of 1972 Olympian Ikuei Yamamoto, son of 3-time world champion Miyu Yamamoto, and nephew of KID Yamamoto and 4-time world champion Seiko Yamamoto.
