The Legend of K1 World MAX
K-1, home of kickboxing's biggest stars ever, combat sports icons like Ernesto Hoost, Peter Aerts, Mirko Cro Cop, Mark Hunt, Jérôme Le Banner, Andy Hug, Alistair Overeem, Badr Hari and many more, all part of the heavyweight madness.
But from 2002 and the introduction of the K-1 World MAX tournament up until 2010, kickboxing's greatest show did reside at 70kg (154 lbs). A division that proved to be the gold standard for kickboxing, the cream of the crop, the best fighting the best, fueled by the likes of Japanese superstar Masato, Thai phenomenon Buakaw Banchamek (Por. Pramuk), Dutch studs Andy Souwer and Albert Kraus, Greek dynamo Mike Zambidis, Ukrainian technician Artur Kyshenko, Japanese warrior Yoshihiro Sato, and later, kickboxing's GOAT Girogio Petrosyan.
An epic era considered by many kickboxing purists the greatest in the sport's history.
Here is the ultimate list of K-1 World MAX's greatest moments, spanning from its very first tournament in 2002, to its last in 2014.
