Based mostly on wins and not on performance or should haves (i.e. controversial decisions). Patricio Pitbull ranked 17 (also competes at FW).

Ferguson was set to defend his title at UFC 223 against Khabib Nurmagomedov, however, he withdrew due to a knee injury and was stripped of the title. Ferguson returned at UFC 229 against Anthony Pettis. He defeated Pettis by TKO due to a corner stoppage. He returned against Donald Cerrone at UFC 238. He defeated Cerrone by TKO due to a doctor's stoppage.

    The UFC Lightweight champion. Nurmagomedov won the vacant title when he defeated Al Iaquinta at UFC 223. He made his first title defense at UFC 229 against Conor McGregor. Nurmagomedov submitted McGregor with a neck crank in the fourth round. Nurmagomedov defended his title against Dustin Poirier at UFC 242. He defeated Poirier by submission due to a rear-naked choke.

Poirier instead fought a rematch against Max Holloway at UFC 236 for the interim UFC Lightweight title. Poirier won the fight by unanimous decision. Poirier looked to unify the UFC Lightweight titles at UFC 242 where he faced Khabib Nurmagomedov. Poirier was submitted in the third round by a rear-naked choke.

Gaethje will headline UFC on ESPN+ 16 opposite Donald Cerrone.

Cerrone will return at UFC on ESPN+ 16 against Justin Gaethje.

He defeated Lentz again, this time by TKO in the second round.

Dariush instead faced Thiago Moises. He won the fight by a dominant unanimous decision. He faced Drew Dober next at UFC on ESPN+ 4. Dariush submitted Dober with an armbar in the second round. He was set to face Drakkar Klose at UFC on ESPN+ 13, however, the bout was cancelled. Dariush will instead face Frank Camacho at UFC on ESPN+ 20.

He fell another 2 rankings (July 2018, formerly ranked 9). He was eventually stripped out of UFC Lightweight title. McGregor finally returned at UFC 229 to face Khabib Nurmagomedov. McGregor tapped out to a neck crank in the fourth round.

He was set to face Kajan Johnson next at UFN 127, however, Khabilov withdrew from the bout. They were rescheduled for UFN 136. Khabilov won the fight by split decision. He faced Carlos Ferreira at UFC on ESPN+ 3 at a catchweight bout of 157lbs. after Ferreira missed weight. Khabilov lost the fight by unanimous decision, however, he does not move down the rankings.
