For 16 yrs I worked in clubs and bars at the pointy end of conflict resolution. 20 yrs of Boxing various styles. Never more than an assistant coach because I work too much to trot around the country to weekend fights.
My first 3 sons I purposely taught zero fighting so they would avoid the potential of things Ive seen. My youngest and fourth son however is a force of nature. He had always ignored any little movement advice I gently dropped.
Then one day bullied by a yr 2 when (he was in prep 5yrs old) he came home with tears/gravel rash having been thrown on the floor.
Necessity made him listen with laser focus to his first conflict resolution lesson.
1. Bicep control
2. Dont let them get behind you.
3. Where the head goes the body follows.
He’s been making **** of everyone (yes there’s more lessons) ever since.
