I thought having a thread deadicated to Beer (and beer related stories) would be a good idea.

enough said.

I LOVE BEER, and that's an understatment. I don't drink as much (or as often) as I used to, I don't drink to get drunk (that's just  a happy coincidence), I never drink (more than a couple of beers) and drive, however I rarely pass an opportunity to have a cold one. I like all kinds of beers, but my favorites are the dark ones, bitter and with a strong taste.

I would like to know about the good beers of your side of the world, which are your favorites and whatever stories you'd like to share.

I won't even try to make a rank because that'd be impossible and probably would lead me to madness, but I'll mention some of the ones I like the most

Victoria (Mexican)
Choppe (Mexican
Bohemia(Mexican)
Negra Modelo (Mexican)
Cucapah Obscura (Mexican micro brewery)
Lowenbrau (German)
Heineken (Netherland)
Steel Reserve 211 (USA)
Bavaria (Netherland)
Foster's (Australia or England; depends how you see it)
Samuel Adams Imperial Stout (USA) I've tried it twice it was great but a bit overwhelming

New Belgium doesn't charge you to take their tour (In Ft Collins) and you get to sample, but if you just go in the tasting room its like $1.50/taster or $4/pint

Haven't tried any New Belgium beers yet.  Any recommendations?

I love beer as well. With that said, I live in Washington right on the boarder of Oregon and as someone who tours with bands every year throughout the country I must say we have the best beer in the USA! All kinds of breweries such as Laurelwood, Rogue, Widmer, McMenamins, Mac & Jack's etc. etc. Hell, we even have breweries up here that have named all their beers after Black Sabbath songs (the Sweat Leaf Ale rules)!

Lately, I've been drinking Rogue's Hazelnut Brown Ale and their Double Chocolate Stout, Laurelwood's Workhorse IPA, McMenamins' Rubinator (mix of their Ruby & Terminator) and Mac 'n' Jacks.

When I went to Germany (to see Manowar play their first 6 albums in it's entirety) I had many different beers and I prefer them over in Germany as they passed a law many, many years ago to only produce beer out of water, barley and hops. If you are beer lover, make the trip to Germany before you die.

@legacy, since you are a Heineken fan I have a story for you. When I went up to Amsterdam I had Heineken on tap and it was one of the best things I've ever had, never was a fan of it here in the states and now I can't even drink it. I was surprised at how much better it is over there!

@RWLawman,
New Belgium has some decent beers... but I just stick with their Fat Tire Amber Ale. The Ranger IPA is pretty good. Still haven't tried the 1554.

Just had a couple of Laurelwood's Green Mammoth Imperial IPA. Came home, checked Tapology and noticed that there was no response to this glorious thread. Is there really not more than 3 or 4 MMA fans that aren't fans of BEER on tapology?!

Is this restricted to just beverages?

Does this post look like I'm talking about soda?

Beer is a beverage. It's about beer. If you are here to talk about Soda to Beer fans, that's like talking about WWE to MMA. ******* BEER!

i love beer. guinness keiths are my two most frequent.  Been into mead a lot lately, and i also really love a good ginger beer.  Crabbies is a decent sweet one, phillips makes a great meal one (great with sushi) and royal Jamaican is a spicey one

Never mind what I was talking about earlier. Guinness, Red Stripe, Mickey's. Sorry I don't have access to many non-domestics. Suggestion would be nice.

BTW One of the the most interesting beers I have ever had was Sam Adam's Stony Brook Red. It is apparently very hard to get (very regionally release), but good god I can't even describe what it was like.

@Wish

I'm originally from Massachusetts and that beer IS hard to explain. It's like a cherry/vanilla oak? Really red/ruby looking beer. One of the only "fruity" beers that I didn't mind so much.

@oldnick I'm from Southwestern Virginia. We don't have much choice unless it's Bud or Bud-Light, but we do have moonshine. : )  and hell alcohol ain't the only elixirs around here ; )

@lawman please pay no attention to my post they are just a figment of your imagination you are actually dreaming these posts.

Yeah I actually drunk some kind off fruity beer lately that wasn't bad can't remember what the name was.

@Nick yeah it's reminded me of a good standard sam adams with a tint of cherry with a slight soury taste to it. It was surprisingly really enjoyable. Definately something they should have tested to a larger audience. My friend was in Massachusetts and got it because we were both going to Stony Brook University on Long Island at the time.

You guys should Lagunitas a try.  It's a brewery out in California that make excellent brews.  I haven't had a lot of what they sell, but my two favs are Wilco Tango Foxtrot and Maximus IPA.  I live in PA and had my distributor special order me a case of the Maximus.

Just tried a pint of Anchor Steam yesterday.  Amazing beer, if you haven't tried it yet.  Very smooth flavor.
