Making an NHL only thread, because I'm sick of seeing the Peyton Manning thread riddled with hockey talk.

So fellow Canadians, REJOICE!

EDIT: And Americans too, we know some of you love hockey as well.

Ovechkin can be the best in the game when he flips the switch...has scored some ridiculous goals over the years too. Love that dude.

Bruins are putting a beating on the Leafs tonight, ouch.  Glad the Sens were able to beat them the last game of the season in regulation to avoid playing either them or the Penguins.  Penguins are killing the Islanders right now as well.  I think they'll take the cup this year.

With that said, Go Sens.  Can't wait to see how our first playoff series with the Habs plays out.

I'm not expecting much from the Sens, but I think they could at least beat the Habs.  Without Spezza though it's almost laughable to imagine the Sens going past the second round.  I'd feel better knowing Ottawa was taken out by Pittsburgh than Montreal though.

Regardless, it's a miracle the Sens were even able to make the playoffs this year.  Outside of Alfie, every star player at every position was out for a lengthy period of time.  They made it because of top notch goaltending and a lot of rookies stepping up.  I think Ottawa had seven different players score their first NHL goal this year.  Lots of positives to take away this season.

Which it comes to Montreal, we still manages to split the season series 2-1-1.  On top of that, they've had a rough stretch near the end of the season with Price allowing about 3.50 goals a game.  Here's hoping it carries into the playoffs.

To say that Ovechkin is the greatest player in the league is...asinine. Crosby took the ball and ran with it, it's not a competition anymore. The last couple of seasons have shown that while Ovechkin is a superb sniper, he's not in the same league as Crosby on defense and that is what will always make Ovechkin inferior.

What you can say though is that Ovechkin is the most exciting player in the league, because Ovie has a legitimate claim to that throne.

I don't care about the Habs/Sens series because the Sens suck ass so...

Erik Karlsson and Craig Anderson are better than Ilya Kovalchuk and Paul Statsny?

I'm not sold on Anderson just yet so I would have to disagree. He was having an outstanding season before the injury though.

Maybe if the guy passing to Eller wasn't trying to get him killed, that wouldn't have happened.

TSN? Your evidence is because TSN said so? Watch what RDS said about the hit.

They're all biased stations. **** 'em both.

Lol, bias way more for RDS. TSN is in Toronto.. dont see why theyd care for Ottawa, given the historic rivalry etween Ottawa and Toronto.

Haters gunna hate.

I'm saying they probably have better footage, know more about the rules, and all of them are saying the same thing.

Did Gryba get thrown out? I don't think the intent to aim for the head was there, but it happens pretty often that the result of a hit gets penalized more than the hit itself...Eller was bleeding all over the damn place.

In my opinion that hit was definitely dirty. It was a shoulder-to-head hit from the blindside in a forward motion, similar to the Cooke hit that ended Marc Savard's career.

How is this NOT a dirty hit is my question, ******* absurd **** you're saying there Nik Lust. There's actually an official rule that states "a lateral back pressure or blindside hit to an opponent where the head is targeted and/or the principle point of contact is not permitted."

Here's an example of a clean hit in that situation:

What I'm trying to say is you're talking out of your ass Nik. The NHL rulebook says it was illegal, therefore it is illegal.
