Big step-up for Weidman but I think he has the wrestling and potential to win this fight.

Its actually an alright matchup. I was hoping Paul Harris / Maia but hey this is a good fight. But I will take Maia via .... TKO, thats right.

I think Weidman is just too big for Maia hes such a strong wrestler but if Maia gets the KO I would defiantly laugh

I like Weidman a lot, I think he's got a ton of potential.  But it's not hard to see Maia winning here.  I think it might be a little too soon for Weidman to be fighting a guy like Maia.

But if he wins, holy ****, top ten at 185.

Oh yeah it defiantly seems to early for him but if I was in his position I would take the fight, I'm sure he has great sub def coming from serra's gym and I dont remember the last time Maia got a submission, not saying he can't but it will defiantly be hard.

I just dont think going from Lawlor to Maia is a good move at all.

I'm a huge Weidman fan and truly believe he is a future 85 champion...I'm nervous for this fight though as its a huge step up...I'll still pick him to use his wresting and control the fight for a decision!!

I see it going similar to the Sonnen/Maia fight. Maia pulls guard and works in a quick sub... unless Maia wants to showcase his striking and then I'll take Weidman by dec

The difference between Sonnen/Maia and Weidman is the fact Weidman trains with Matt Serra everyday! Maia might have the best BJJ in MMA, but Serra isn't far behind!

After I went on a hating spree against Weidman and he ended up smashing Lawlor, I vowed to never bet against him again, and I'm sticking to my word.  I got Weidman by decision.

Weidman qualified for the ADCC in 2009 after just 1 year of serious BJJ training and barely lost to Galvao......I think he can roll with Maia and get the UD

Obviously Maia is a killer on the ground and with subs, but Weidman has the pure strength and BJJ to avoid and possibly escape some of Maia's attempts.

I really dont think Weidman and his standup will be at all an issue in this fight. Maia is getting better standup everytime we see him fight.

I am picking the upset here, no intelligent insight for my reasoning, just a gut hunch.  Everything said about Maia in this post is legit and I agree he is top notch.  However, Weidman has exceptional upside in the all-around category IMO.  @wolfmanhowl:  what is Chris +210-+250 range?

Maia wins, even if Weidman's got the potential to do god know's what to Maia.

I'm sorry, I'm just not sold on Chris Weidman. Honestly, I think his name isn't big-time enough. Like I know it sounds stupid and illogical but every UFC top fighter has a name that just makes a statement subconsciously to me. And Weidman's doesn't.

You might think I'm a total idiot with no knowledge of the sport but think about it. Every top 10 fighter in the UFC has a name that makes a statement. I don't know why, it's just like that.
