Good win for Villa, the math for a 114-112 for Villa taking into account that Ellis practically won the first 6 rounds is a bit difficult to explain. But the last round was a defining point for the scorecards. Ellis got tired after the 9th round and from that point on the whole fight belonged to the Venezuelan. The last round there were 2 knockdowns and even for me there could have been another knockdown in the middle but the referee did not consider it a knockdown.

Nah, Boots Vergil is not happening next.
Vergil was just announced to face Eimantos Stanionis a couple of days ago for the WBA Regular Title, of course today Stanionis had his appendix taken out so fights postponed already!
This Boots fight tonight is for the IBF Interim so we are more likely to see Boots vs Spence before Boots vs Ortiz!!

Karen ran a marathon tonight!!!!.

Actually thinking about it, next fight might just be Boots vs Villa. Ellis vs Villa was an IBF contender match up, Boots just became Interim IBF Champion.
Felt like they(PBC/Showtime) were trying to set up an Ennis Ellis fight. Now that Villa has put a stop to any of that maybe he gets Boots?
Thinking about it I feel like that's a good style clash. Pressure Puncher vs Aggressive Counter Striker!

Maybe Ennis didn't get the spectacular KO, but this fight with Chukhadzhyan was more beneficial than face opponents like Custio Clayton. Ennis had already shown his worth offensively by knocking out a former champion like Lipinets, but against Karen he also showed that he has good punch absorption which will be extremely important if he faces opponents like Virgil Ortiz, Spence or Bud. If the Bud vs. Spence is still taking time to materialize, I see Ennis defending the interim title against the Venezuelan Villa, since Roiman won a title elimination and both fought tonight, which would make it easier to get the times for the fight.
