This fight was meant to go the distance. At least it was not easy to predict who can finish whom here. Therefore safes option and most likely outcome was Decision. Glad I picked Sakai over Mayes.

I told you guys Sakai was the pick and gave the reasons why..how people went with Mayes after his last showing is mind blowing..at least Sakai was in their with some of the best in the division..strength of schedule matters

Fights like this are pretty much why the UFC keeps guys like Mayes around: to give decent fighters on bad skids a chance to get back on track and to give debuting or prospect fighters a decent test. 

I over-estimated the damage Sakai had taken on that ski. That fight was very lopsided.

Sakai used his Muay Thai fundamentals and easily defeated Mayes: I think by looking at his last opponents and their overall results for this fight I could say that Sakai is a middle-upper HW level fighter and Mayes is a middle-bottom HW level fighter. What surprised me the most was Mayes' lack of defense to the knees in Sakai's clinch, it's as if he had never practiced defending those types of attacks and Sakai was his certified Kru tonight: a complete class in Thai Clinch from all possible angles.

I'm convinced that Mayes is really a light heavyweight. He just seems to be physically outmatched by anyone that actually is decent at heavyweight
