No Sumo, No Oil, No WWE, or various other species of ******** (oil is legit I suppose I'd just rather not watch oiled men nipple-rubbing). Catch wrestling acceptable.

it is weird to me that amateur wrestling is pretty big in America all the way up to college, and then it's like you either try to go and make the Olympic team or you have to basically do some other sport. from what I understand there is no option for people to use their wrestling skills and experience to make money outside of jobs where they coach wrestling, there's no big tournaments or leagues to go to and make money annually. The most popular and monetized form of wrestling is just pro wrestling/sports entertainment and these days you don't need ANY wrestling skills at all, you basically just need to be a good stunt man for that job. and then it's weird because it's almost like reversed with boxing then. parents and teachers seem to be strongly against putting it in schools, but outside of academics if you go pro you have a chance to become a legitimate millionaire if you're skilled enough.

@****les You like wrastling? Are there any clubs around NSW? It doesnt matter what age you are unless they actually refuse you cause of age which would be highly agecist/not cool... Wouldnt hurt to do some cardio and sprints and get a bit fit before you go, but if you like it get involved, its great for the feel good factor/endorphins/stress burning and just a worthy sport and hobby or exercise form... I know Alex The Great is a former Australian wrestling champion in greco, not sure if he did freestyle

Im not exactly in my youthful prime, but I want to get involved again, win whatever tournaments I can while I still have some time... And when im a bit older I will be allowed to go to veteran (those above age 35) tournaments... Kind of sad I know, I know they are young mans games but screw it we have to live our lives in the best way we can, and anyone should be allowed to just train whatever age, im not into agecism in sports and hobbies, in some regards I am, like in dating/mating

I have chosen to resurrect that tradition. Your Sumo thread is the reason doing so is timely, but that's the extent of it.

@Wasteland wrestling is pretty much nonexistent in Australia. I have no doubt that my country has the worst record, facilities, and training options for all styles of wrestling of any developed nation.

@Greg I was just funk’n around.

@CheckLeftHook part of the problem is here in America we grow up training folk style/collegiate wrestling while everywhere else does freestyle and Greco. You can seek out and train Greco and especially freestyle but it’s not what we generally practice in school and many youth programs. It is weird.
