Poirier vs Gaethje in 2018.

This event is currently the second highest selling combat sports event in this venue.  It's only trailing UFC 263

Yes but what matters is that it outsold events with big names.  Like I said it outsold Poirier vs Gaethje.  It also outsold a David Benavidez card from this year

Jake Paul is doing some interesting things, no he's not boxing prospect but he is bringing in newer fans to the sport. The bad thing is these are "circus" fights. I respect him for his value in the sport because he wants to support the fighters and he is for fighter pay and fighters being taken care of.

I dunno.

As long as he stays away from mma idc what he does. I’m all for mma gaining more popularity but Jake Paul is all about clout, he doesn’t let care at all about the sport.

I’m all for fighters getting paid more, but I agree. I don’t think Jake Paul gives a **** about ufc fighter pay, he just wants to pretend like he cares so he can get points from the fan base

What has Jake Paul really done for boxing? Paul literally can't even book a fight unless he is fighting former UFC dudes now cause their management actually knows how to make a fair contract while Paul's team, and any other "boxer's" team that he fights end up looking like clowns and can't get a contract done cause Paul's team literally tries to bully every fighter on Jake Paul's terms. How much money has Paul made for his undercard boxers vs what Dana White has done for fighter pay in the last 15 years? I'm pretty sure Dana has given more dudes the ability to be millionaires than Jake Paul ever has. In fact, the only dudes that have made a million dollars from an event are his opponents, who are already millionaires, and that is if Paul isn't lying about the pay and PPV buys to make himself look better

Paul vs. Silva
Jake Paul, DEC
I really hope I'm wrong with this pick, I really do! Initially, I thought that Jake Paul had ****** up when this fight was announced but then it occurred to me that Paul's entire career is built on hype. He is one loss away from ruining what he's spent the last few years dedicating himself to. Why would he risk that? The truth is, he doesn't. Skill wise, he's never getting to the elite level but he's decent enough to beat skilful but older stars. Him and his management team pick his opponants very carefully and only pick people that they're certain will both sell tickets and he can beat. The fact that they've picked Anderson Silva suggests that they know something that we don't. Or perhaps we do know it but don't want to admit. Silva is a very good boxer in his own right but Paul isn't too bad himself. That combined with the fact that Silva is almost twice his age and it really starts to look like a very winnable fight for Paul. As I've said, Silva is a quality boxer and this should serve him well in terms of holding his own defensively so I recon he'll go the distance but I just feel that Paul's youth and athleticism will be enough to sway the judges here.

The odds on this fight are finally starting to correct themselves. Hope Silva wins but Paul is way better than anyone wants to give him credit for. Probably sauced out of his mind too. Not sure if steroids are even banned in these clown shows; not that it matters, I'm sure he'd get around the testing. He's been a wagon and I doubt that changes here. FWIW, I expect Silva to have a better performance than Nate Diaz would/will.

Usually testing is only required in high level fights like title fights and fights between ranked guys.  To my knowledge there is no VADA testing in these fights

This is going to be a tough fight, but I trust Silva's fight IQ to be able to outgun the athleticism of Paul. If Paul slows down later in the fight like he did in his fights with Woodley, Silva will take over and finish him off. That's how I see this playing.
