He was basically fighting a blown up out of shape welter weight.
He basically took down Till who has no take down defence or ground game and whaled on him for a whole round without even being able to finish a defenceless man.
Then he completely gassed, got outstruck by Till who barely could string together a combination. Then almost got submitted himself. Lost the round.
Then finally got another takedown and choked out Till who had completely quit by then, and if he is to believed may have torn his ACL again.
Not impressed one bit. He is as bad as I thought he was going in. Cashed bets on him this time, but can't wait for his next fight to fade his ass.

Journey Newson, TKO, R3
this fight truly is the definition of a 50/50 (going to be seeing a lot of those on this card). for anyone looking to bet on this fight, I'm not going to baby you and tell you what to do but I'm going to go right ahead and let you know that personally, I will NOT be betting on this fight. tapology odds on this fight are also a massive joke btw
starting off with journey newson, for some reason I'm reading a lot of hate in this thread about how he sucks and how this fight is a set up. while I do not think he's a good fighter, he certainly isn't bad and in my opinion is pretty much what the average UFC fighter should look like.
journey newson started off as a bjj player who's progressively fallen in love more and more with his striking and more specifically with the power he holds in his hands. he's very athletic, explosive, manages range well, preserves his energy at an acceptable level and doesn't have terrible fight IQ. on a more technical note, newson on a skill basis level has great kicks and throws them in large variety and output. spinning kicks, body kicks, kicks to the high, calf kicks, high kicks - you name them he can throw them. if I had to pick a sequence as his signature move, I'd prolly say it's the spinning back fist leading into the spinning hook kick in a constant fluid movement. another thing he does really well is faking the way he's going to go with his kicks, specifically faking the low kick and going upstairs instead. his kicking game can be described as an endless loop of using his kicks towards one direction with the ultimate goal of said kicks setting up future kicks that will be going towards the opposite direction (going downstairs as a bait to eventually end up going upstairs or the inverse, rinse and repeat). noting this as a general mma thing, the high kicks being used as bait to set up the low kicks as a concept is very interesting, the most noticable implementation of it I've seen is probably Timur Valiev doing it against Trevin Jones (used the question mark kick to set up his lower kicks, usually fighters do the opposite). Newson also has OK-ish takedowns and OK-ish backtaking but the top control isn't really there. lastly, for a 135'er he his shots are pretty powerful and he throws them with the intention of actually hurting his opponents.
those are pretty much the things he does well. when it comes to the things he doesn't do well, his biggest error has to be his striking defense. he's got a massive right hand that he likes to throw (the left is also there but he prefers his right hand over his left hand for his power shots pretty noticacbly) but loads up on it unreasonably much, leaving himself open for the counter right from his opponent by dropping his left hand guard (which is a strike that morozov can definitely time correctly and accurately throw). he has no jab to set up his attacks and if you took away his kicks, all you would be left with is a brawler with power who leaves his chin open to counters. another dent on his striking defense is the fact that if you really crowd him and pressure him against the fence, he doesn't have the footwork and striking awareness to pivot and circle out of situations that could be bad for him so he basically does the worst thing a fighter can do, he turns his back and runs away. adding on, for someone who's so reliant on his kicks and has structured his entire stand up game around kicks, he really isn't THAT fast with them. his kicking technique is there but when you see him spinning looking to land a spinning hook kick for example, he doesn't spin as fast as you would expect someone who has built their entire standup game on kicks would.
sergey morozov is a good fighter but, in my opinion, a tad bit overrated and from what it seems like such is the case on tapology as well. he's good in most areas of fighting but doesn't really massively excel in any categories. he has good boxing with decent boxing defense, good wrestling but a disappointing submission game and suspect submission defense, his chin is questionable (for how questionable his chin is though, I'd say he's a pretty tough dude) and I also think his style of fighting isn't fully and completely supported by his cardio either (khalid taha looked like the way fresher dude in the 3rd round compared to morozov). some of the things he likes to do, he's very comfortable fighting on his backfoot and would much prefer beating you from a distance on the feet. he has really good footwork moving backwards but I'd say his footwork is a bit lacking when it comes to moving forward. while he doesn't at first glance seem like a very aggressive striker, once he tags you with a decent shot he will move forward and search for the finishing sequence. he's very happy to engage in grappling exchanges, has crisp takedowns and does work up against the cage. on a more technical note, he posseses a super accurate check left hook (if he's got a signature move, it's probably the check left hook) that he likes landing as he's moving backwards on opponents charging in at him but doesn't have the appropriate footwork to be able to pull off what we call shifting in boxing (ketchel shift, dempsey double shift etc) in order to get to his left hook as he's moving forward. additionally, he's got a picture perfect counter right that might end up proving itself very valuable in this matchup (like I mentioned, newson overloads when throwing his right hand leaving himself open for the counter right). when it comes to his wrestling and overall grappling, he has really good takedowns and is incredibly smart when it comes to actually completing them. he's very quick to shoot for the single and is elite when it comes to abandoning the single at the right time and quickly transitioning to either a double leg or a body lock, two things that he knows how to take advantage of very well (his bodylock specifically is incredibly powerful and a very high percentage technique he uses to secure the takedown). once he manages to get the fight to the ground, he doesn't settle for just staying in full guard and instantly looks to get into half guard. he loves staying in half guard and working from there with the main goal of wearing his opponent down instead of becoming aggressive and looking to pass guard (this can be both a good and a bad thing - half guard offers openings to submission threats like the kimura but obviously isn't scored nearly as dominantly on the scorecards as passing guard is).
time to get into the not so good parts of his game. morozov simply does not look to finish fights. both his striking and his ground game can be described by a lack of urgency which in turn simply gives his opponents more time and more opportunities to test his cardio further and potentially steal rounds off of him. this is especially true for his grappling, it's insane for someone who has wrestling as good as he does to be so content with controlling and wearing down someone instead of hunting for submissions (that's also evident by the fact that he only has 3 submission wins across 23 professional fights and by the fact that he has had 0 deep submission attempts during 15+ minutes of control time across his 4 UFC fights). on top of that, his submission defense is also suspect, specifically when it comes to protecting his neck and his legs from leg locks. moving on to the technical flaws in his striking game, his footwork moving forwards isn't as good as his footwork moving backwards, meaning he's forced to move waaaaaay more than the opponent stalking him (taxing on his cardio), he has to give up octagon control, he can't get his combinations off moving forward as easily and his circling after a while becomes predictable (the way he circles might prove to be super important in this matchup). he's proved to be prone to getting tagged with massive overhand rights and his chin really can't take any more of those. he doesn't know how to defend any type of leg kicks (khalid taha had success with both the outside low kick and the inside kick to the thigh and while morozov looked unable to defend them he toughed it out and didn't show any reaction to the pain he must have been feeling). on top of that, he also struggles to successfully defend against high kicks as well, with umar nurmagomedov being able to almost-land on him with his kicks at will and eventually cracking him with a huge one. lastly, his body is wide open to shots and with newson potentially being the smaller fighter it wouldnt totally surprise me to see him land on morozov's body out in the open or off of the clinch break (not VERY likely though because like I mentioned, newson's hands arent very good).
finally time for my prediction on this fight which, you guessed it, i'm not going to give a concrete one because of how 50/50 this matchup is (i might leave my tapology pick as newson KO/TKO for fun and to go against the tapology wave, but in no way am I taking a concrete stance in favor of this outcome). all I'm going to say is that this is a scary stylistic matchup for morozov. this is the part where morozov's circling becomes so important like I mentioned, he tends to get predictable by mainly circling to his left side (newson's right hand side) so with everything that I've mentioned combined, it wouldn't be surprising at all if newson cracks him with a massive overhand right or a well timed well set up high kick and morozov's chin simply might not hold up. on the other hand though, it's just as likely that morozov will utilize his superior wrestling coupled with his larger size and end up winning a decision with some minor bumps along the way (note: like I said newson started off as a bjj player so this won't be incredibly easy).

Julian Erosa, DEC
Erosa has shown himself to be a very solid 45er and I don’t think Caceres has the skill set to stop him
Brundage vs. Oleksiejczuk
Michał Oleksiejczuk, TKO, R1
Good fight here but Michal is going to do some damage early on and Brundage won’t be able to recover
Vlismas vs. McKenna
Cheyanne Vlismas, DEC
I think Cheyanne should be good enough in the takedown defense to keep it on the feet were she has a clear advantage
Matthews vs. Semelsberger
Jake Matthews, DEC
Matthews was very impressive in his last fight. Unfortunately for Semelsberger I think it’s gonna be another tough L
Nurmagomedov vs. Kakhramonov
Said Nurmagomedov, TKO, R3
I think if Said can contain Kakhramonovs wrestling he should win on the feet with his very diverse skill set
Maheshate vs. García
Maheshate, DEC
Tough fight to call. I’ll take the hyped guy
Battle vs. Fakhretdinov
Bryan Battle, DEC
Battle has shown very good improvement lately. It’s either gonna go one of 2 ways. Rinat wrestling to a UD or battle defending takedowns and winning on the feet. I’ll take Battle there
Dvořák vs. Kape
Manel Kape, TKO, R2
Great fight, I think Manel is better at this point and will find the knockout at some point
Morozov vs. Newson
Sergey Morozov, TKO, R2
I think Morozov is better everywhere
