Just a side note, I know Segei has a massive reach advantage, but I think Tai will crash the pocket and brawl. And he is winning any brawl.

I take Ayys point that Sergei could wrestle, which makes it interesting

@rah why the confidence in Tracy? I’m more on the Ribas side. Would like to know your thoughts on that fight

I would almost call Tracey a lock. Though again as I am sure L'Andrew will say, this is only my ******** opinion.

The way I see it Ribas has no path to victory. Well maybe one if she catches Tracey with an unexpected KO blow.

Otherwise how does she win? Ribas is the more technical striker sure, and has higher volume. But this will not stay standing for long. And in fact I don't trust Ribas's chin one bit.

Tracey will take this down, she is super strong and has excellent wrestling cardio and her cage wrestling is great. Once on the ground her top pressure is very very good.

So Ribas will end up on her back, then what? Get up? Maybe with a scramble but she gets taken down again. Submit Tracey from bottom? This is Brian Ortegas girlfriend. Not happening.

In fact I think this is one of the worst match ups for Ribas in the whole division and I think the odds are completely the wrong way round.

Just my theory. And anyway, good wrestler with cardio usually beats BJJ practitioner most of the time

In fact I will go one further, I will say that the only people Ribas has beaten are BJJ practitioners with worse striking. That is not Tracey Cortez.

Agree, out of his 12 UFC fights Tai only had reach advantage over Blagoy Ivanov (2'') and Asker (1''), so yeah I think he's gonna crash in pretty easily and catch Sergei, very used to fighting longer opponents plus his leg kicks are money

Hmm interesting. I’ll have to think about this. I feel like Ribas judo will be able to cancel out a lot of Tracy’s wrestling. She’s historically had great tdd and judo is just a cheat code in wmma. I’m with you on her chin; I absolutely hate it. I think Ribas has the worst chin of any woman. But, I think she will win moments on the feet with volume. For me it just all depends on if Tracy can get her down; I don’t think anyone has outwrestled her yet but obviously tracy has some of the best wrestling in the division. Close fight for me

@rah okay, that is a good point. I’ll send one back at ya; how about Tracy’s comp? She’s fought Agapova (very bad nail when she’s the one getting grappled), melo (can), egger (strong judoka but historically very bad at defending takedowns), kish (she looked really bad in this fight but I’ll cut her slack because I remember hearing she came into this fight  compromised), and then gatto (actually a great win but gatto is totally fine with playing bjj off of her back)

I do totally see what you mean tho lol. Ribas has pretty much exclusively beaten grapplers

Good point about the judo. Ribas has very good judo. I will think about that a little.

But one thing, I think that the judo will come into play mainly against the cage and I think Tracey will go for takedowns on the open mat away from the cage. Makes the judo less effective and I think she will go more for legs than body locks etc...

As for the competition, point taken but the competition in that division is pretty **** anyway apart from like the top few. And as JR says Egger and Gatto are great wins

@ jr It is a good win but my point is egger isn’t very good at stopping takedowns. She also was much more green when they fought, hence why she’s 3-1 after that fight

for example look at my boys Jarno Errens and Takashi Sato

rah calling tracy cortez a lock then saying ribas' chin is going to be an issue going into the fight LOL

chookagian who hits infinitely harder and has infinitely better technique that allows her to generate better accuracy/more power than tracy couldn't chin ribas and actually got outstruck by her in r3 yet cortez is going to be able to chin ribas?

tracy is way too hittable when she's not grappling and struggles to close the distance. ribas' grappling is good enough that even when tracy gets a hold of her, she's going to make those grappling exchanges very competitive and give herself a chance to win this fight on the scorecards based on damage dealt prior to cortez engaging in the grappling

at the end of the day, this fight is going to be damage dealt by ribas on the feet vs control amassed by cortez on the ground, official ufc scoring guide favors damage over everything and lately there's been a clear trend in decisions both in the ufc and outside of the ufc where damage is favored heavily over control

close fight, going with ribas

Bananas thinks Chookagian is a KO artist. This is why we call him Bananas 🤣

And also why we ignore his casual opinions on MMA

where did I say chookagian is a KO artist? LMAO nice strawman you bumass weirdo

you said ribas' chin is shot, i presented evidence to you of someone that hits with crispier technique, harder and is bigger than cortez not causing any issues to ribas' chin
