He just needs to apply for a license, receive it and he's good to go.

Who do you guys think he should fight next?

Instead of giving him a gimme fight, give him Shogun.

I like everyones suggestions, and all are fights that easily could happen.  @nik id love to see him fight shogun but i think a gimme fight is a good idea.  Thiago has a style that could earn him a title shot but i think he needs his confidence up again.  Give him someone easy then a top 20 then a top ten assuming he wins those three have him challenge jones, to which he will probably lose then give him a rematch with lyoto, assuming lyoto wasnt the top ten opponent.

I'm not sure if I see Thiago Silva ever getting a title shot. He seems to me someone that may slip into a Gatekeeper role. He already got KO'd by Machida and lost to Rashad. He has been in the UFC almost 5 years now, I don't think he needs gimme fights.

But I could be completely off.

@nik assuming the naggin back injury is accurate he might put up a better fight against either of the two.  He looked amazing beating up vera, but that is the fight he pissed hot after.

@Piercerdan He did look amazing, but no offence to Vera, he isn't exactly top flight competition. I will hold my tongue until I see him fight again.

gustafsson would beat thiago pretty easy i dare say, so that wouldn't be a good idea if you want to build thiago up after the long hiatus. i wouldn't mind to see him fighting stanislav nedkov (if he's healthy) bonnar or lil' nog.

@niklust you are completely off.. Ha.about the gatekeeper part he narrowly lost to Rashad and under normal circumstances he would have to pull out of that fight.. He has one DESICIVE loss and that's to Machida who is a horrible style for him, haha.. Now I'm done I dont care who he fights next as long as its in the UFC :)

I like the idea of Stephan Bonnar or Gustaffson or Lil Nog, all of which seem to be the general consensus.  There aren't really any meaningful fights outside of those guys

He was supposed to fight Rampage at one point, after Rampage KO's Bader I wouldn't mind seeing Rampage fight another Silva!

@poir i think thiago needs a win before he fights rampage.  Just for marketing sake.  They won't put a guy that makes tons of dough against a guy most casual fans have forgotten about.  I really like thiago and think he can do some really good stuff coming up especially if his back was as bad as he made it sound and is healed now.
