I think Anvar will end up like Chikadze. He’ll lose this one but come back after 3-4 KOs and hop right into the ufc

Eh doubt it, he’s 33 so I feel like this is a last chance for him. That’s probably why they didn’t sign him straight up like they did with doumbe or pereira. I think they’re like “yknow what? You are credentialed but you’re older and inexperienced so we’re gonna give you a dwcs chance”. I feel like if they really wanted him they would have signed him right away and pushed the Giga rematch

Carpenter vs. Cháirez
Clayton Carpenter, DEC
Trickier opponent for Clayton than Erceg imo. Edgar looks like he’s built out of steel much like Alex Pereira, unfortunately I think he has a hole in the ground game where Carpenter excels

Boynazarov vs. Silva
Erik Silva, SUB, R1
I think Anvar is gonna end up like Giga. Lose on DWCS then come back after 3-4 KOs and immediately start fighting people on the roster

Maybe so. I’m a fan of his KB fights so I hope he can catch a body then have at it with the ufc competition

I picked the other Erik Silva because I think that if he is submitting experienced mma fighters than he should definitely sub a kickboxer with only 3 pro fights. Never know with the contender series though

That’s funny, my predictions popped up after like 30 minutes after I entered them. Interesting

I just find the fact that silva is 34 to be interesting. I thought he was under 30

Carpenter is already a full package, he had an excellent amateur career, he is currently 5 0 (pro) for all matches, he won very dominantly and spectacularly. I believe that he will be in the top 15, I am practically 100% sure of that. I think that they will give him opponents that suit him, besides, flyweight has too small a roster of fighters, and he is also a quality fighter. So that top15 is inevitable for this guy.

Prediction Comments

Predictions: 4 of 5 Winners, 2 Perfect, 265 Points   |   Tied for 408th

Borrego vs. Nickal
Bo Nickal, SUB, R2
This to me is more a test for Nickal´s striking as I consider Borrego decent in that department. Surely Nickal, will try to knock him out, but if that doenst work I can see him taking the fight to the ground and finish him there

Renato Jr. vs. Pogues
Jamal Pogues, DEC
I will favor Pogues here. Renato Jr is a small heavyweight (most of his tape is at welterweight) and he has mostly fought bums. Pogues is really well coached and I can see him taking the fight to the ground and dominating. Probably won´t earn a contact, but should be enough for the victory

Boynazarov vs. Silva
Anvar Boynazarov, TKO, R1
Both these guys have clear strengths, with Boynazarov being an elite kickboxer and Silva being a submission specialist. One thing I notice is Silva relies on heavy pressure for the takedowns, which I don´t think will work. I can also see him trying to stand and bang with Boynazarov, whiich won´t work either. To me, this is a stylistic missmatch, probably with the objective of rushing Anvar and having that Giga rematch

Carpenter vs. Cháirez
Clayton Carpenter, SUB, R1
Carpenter is the guy I see with the most future from the guys signed this DWCS this season (he gets the edge over Rebecki and Bonfim because of the division). He is the full package and has big credentials. Chairez is a dog and will bring the action, but his lack of a ground game makes me think the fight could end that way

Predictions: 5 of 5 Winners, 1 Perfect, 290 Points   |   Tied for 263rd

Bo Nickal vs. Zachary Borrego
Bo Nickal opened today as a -300 favorite on BOL. That number quickly moved to -1400. That is a more accurate line as Bo Nickal is a serious prospect. I am not sure there is a wrestler in MMA with more wrestling credentials than Bo right now. Henry Cejudo was an Olympic Champ but he fought in the UFC in his latter years. I do not see a way that Bo Nickal loses this fight

Paulo Renato Jr. vs. Jamal Pogues
I am leaning towards Jamal Pogues. He is 26 and has a couple credible losses at an early age. He lost to Alex Polizzi and Jordan Young a few years back. He already has a decision victory on DWCS Week 9 from 2019. Renato Jr. has a fancy record but has not faced the toughest competition. A few of his pro fights were retirement fights for his opponents. Pogues is going drag Renato into deep waters and finish him inside the distance.

Erik Silva vs. Anvar Boynazarov
Anvar is a former Glory Kickboxer that actually beat Giga Chikadze back in 2015. They are both on the older side as Anvar is 33 and Erik Silva is 34. Age will not be a factor here but I believe Anvar's grappling ability will be tested here. This is not a good matchup for him considering Erik Silva is a heavy grappler. Will he be able to avoid Anvar's tough shots on the feet? I see this fight ending in a knockout by Anvar or a submission by Silva. I am going with submission by Erik Silva.

Clayton Carpenter vs. Edgar Chairez
No explanation needed for this one. Favorable matchup for Carpenter and I think Carpenter gets it done inside the distance.

Karolina Wojcik vs. Sandra Lavado
Wojcik by decision.

I really hope Anvar wins cause he's an exciting kickboxer but man does he just have no grappling experience. Faced 2 total cans and KO'd a guy in 20 seconds. There's a solid chance if he doesn't get the early KO he's gonna look lost on the ground. Hopefully he's getting those reps at Kill Cliff.

No shot they actually sign Bo Nickal at 2-0 right? Probably trying to secure him to a developmental deal so nobody else can sign him.

@mmafan I would hope they do, but, given that they’re signing guys like doumbe and pereira to the roster now I wouldn’t be totally surprised if they give him a contract; especially given that 185 is so thin and barely has any wrestlers (especially those at an elite level). I don’t think it would be wise to sign him and also would be very risky given the talent and potential he possesses. They probably will give him the developmental contract tho as their version of a franchise tag

Only thing if they sign him is he'll probably have to use a wrestle heavy approach to win fights in the UFC. If he taking a couple developmental fights he can work on that striking again other low level strikers. Otherwise I think he's a good enough talent, gotta see him some more but I think he'd beat a decent amount of the MWs on the roster.

I mean Brunson is ranked #4 off of pretty much his wrestling alone lol; the Brunson blitz is 😬😬😬😬

I would like to see him get more experience first even though he probably just runs through everyone not in the ufc right now. He’s lucky he’s at 185 too because that division is almost all strikers. He will be an absolute force at 185

What's a developmental deal? If they sign him they sign him, that's signing too. They'll just give him easy matchups and feed him a world class diet of world class cans until he's like 7-0

It’s like what they did to Greg hardy. He won’t fight in the ufc right away but he will basically fight on the regional scene until they say, hey u can come to the ufc now. Prevents other orgs from signing him

I think they may do something like they did with Alex Pereira where they give him good stylistic matchups up to the title shot.
