Tracy Cortez vs. Melissa Gatto

Predictions: 9 of 14 Winners, 8 Perfect, 700 Points   |   Tied for 171st

Jason Herzog is by far the best MMA referee right now and I would say of all time.

But I think he made a mistake at the end of round 1. He told Cortez she has to let her opponent up, if she calls her up. I don’t think this is a rule. It is protect yourself at all times. In this situation Cortez called Gatto up and Gatto obliged but Herzog didn’t step in. Therefore Cortez does not have to wait to attack. It’s evident from Herzog allowing the action to continue that there is no rule Cortez broke.

Solid win for Cortez! We have to remember she has a win over Erin Blanchard during this current 10-fight winning streak.

And the veteran Justin Kish, who just beat the former Bellator champ MacFarlane.

Blagoy Ivanov vs. de Lima

Predictions: 9 of 14 Winners, 8 Perfect, 700 Points   |   Tied for 171st

The ability to wear a shot well is what won Ivanov the second round on the scorecards. De Lima landed more damaging strikes than Blagoy even in the clinch.

Blagoy Ivanov vs. de Lima

Predictions: 9 of 14 Winners, 8 Perfect, 700 Points   |   Tied for 171st

Rogan alluded that Blagoy Ivanov might be knocked out by N’Gannou. Basically saying his chin wouldn’t hold up. I think Rogan forgot that Ivanov went to decision with Derrick Lewis, the man with the most KOs in heavyweight history.

Also Rogan called into question the depth of the heavyweight division, since Ivanov is ranked 15. I guess Rogan didn’t get the memo about the UFC pushing that the division is deep right now.

Andre Fialho

Predictions: 9 of 14 Winners, 8 Perfect, 700 Points   |   Tied for 171st

Andre Fialho is proving that staying active is the best way of becoming a fan favorite and getting yourself on the map. 2 wins and 3 fights in 5 months will probably get him a good fight next.

Francisco Trinaldo vs. Danny Roberts

Predictions: 9 of 14 Winners, 8 Perfect, 700 Points   |   Tied for 171st

Elite level heart demonstrated by Danny Roberts to not only survive second round but ended it throwing his hands still. Francisco Trinaldo on the other hand is probably one of those fighters no one really wants to fight because how difficult he is to beat.

Francisco Trinaldo vs. Danny Roberts

Predictions: 9 of 14 Winners, 8 Perfect, 700 Points   |   Tied for 171st

No question the second round was a 10-8 round for Trinaldo. He not only hurt Roberts bad multiple times, he received almost nothing in the round from Roberts. The third round could be argued a 10-8 too.

Trinaldo had an excellent game plan not pushing to much more for the finish since Roberts demonstrated he was going to give up.

Charles Oliveira

Predictions: 9 of 14 Winners, 8 Perfect, 700 Points   |   Tied for 171st

Oliveira vs. McGregor for the belt will happen. This is as legit as any number of other championship bouts that featured not the #1 contender.

Just a reminder, Conor “The Notorious” McGregor got his first lightweight title shot after winning 0 fights at lightweight in the UFC. And had gone 1-1 versus a top contender at welterweight. The only thing that has changed about McGregor since is more people don’t like him. But that doesn’t mean that less people are watching. More people want to watch him lose and can you imagine if he wins? The UFC will promote the hell out of that.

Regardless if Oliveira wants to do it at 170 for no belt, that would be fight of the year.

Hopefully you're still differentiating  between actual legit and "as legit as other things in the past".  Lol

Hahahaha for sure! I try not to treat MMA like a sport. It keeps me sane.

For me Islam is number one contender and most deserving now. But they won’t fight for six months so who know will be most deserving then.

Looking at your rankings, those are the top contenders in my opinion. Great rankings. Who would you like to see fight for the belt?

Sigh.  Couldn't things be much more simple?  :)

Couldn't they just have a ranked fighter coming off a loss fight down the ranks against someone below them coming off a win?

You're right about the calendar of each guy.  It's a little offset.

Maybe they could do Makhachev/Poirier asap?
Gaethje likely wouldn't have too long a medical suspension, he was done pretty quick without much brain rattling, so Dariush for him asap?

If both Makhachev and Dariush win those, then whomever looked more dominant gets the title shot after Chandler?  Chandler and Charles are on the same calendar now, and Chandler's stock is at peak.  Go with that?

If Poirer were to beat Makhachev, then he's next after Chandler?

If Gaethje beat Dariush, then they could do Gaethje / McGregor and at least make Conor get one in before getting the golden spoon.

On another note, it wouldn't surprise me if they faded Tony Ferguson out.
