and who else thinks magny will give shavkat a tough fight after really watching tape magny is all dog and really has no quit in him i think if he would have had more killer instinct and finished more of his fights he woudlve been in the top 5 at some point i still think shavkat wins this fight but im not so sure he just runs through magny the way he has everyone else one thing is for sure shavkat has got the better striking but how well will magnys chin hold up hes older but still has a good chin and the weight cuts never seem to kill him i also would like to see if magny can take shavkat down or hold him against the fence and if shavkat can take him down how does magny do off his back after really watching tape and studying as much as i could ill take shavkat by decision i know hes never gone the distance but he never fought someone as tough as magny

Predictions: 5 of 10 Winners, 1 Perfect, 315 Points   |   Tied for 3129th

My reasons for the dog plays

Tafon - Equal reach. More power. Ulberg's chin is up in the air and his hands are down. Got cracked by Cherant last fight. Tafon has better wrestling and will win the clinch. Has 3 round cardio and Ulberg will slow down late.

Kelleher - Mario is good but Kelleher should wrestle for 3 rounds and grind him out. Also a chance of catching his neck. Doubt this will stay standing for long.

Demopoulos - Striking is equal for both. Demopoulos is younger, faster and tough. Working wrestling with Cejudo. If it hits the ground Frey will get tapped quick.

Reasons for the other plays

JP - Could be the closest fight on the card and Durden is live, but JP has the better offensive wrestling and cardio though he too does slow down. Main worry is his chin. But Durden is not Bruno Silva or Montel Jackson. Even then JP does not seem to get put out cold though he gets dropped, often gets up again. Can't see Durden doing that beyond first round due to cardio, but I don't think even that's likely. Skill wise striking is close though Buys can be more tentative, but again against Silva or Montel which is different. Other worry is JPs defensive wrestling but even if taken down, his scrambles are good and likely tire out Durden. Durden often falls to quick submissions and JP is good at those. Looking at Durden's wins, I feel he actually lost to Gutierrez and Aori so could actually be 0-4 in the UFC. JP has fought the much, much better competition. In the Gutierrez fight he had his back for almost a round and did nothing, then gassed and lost the last 2. Sure it was short notice but that fight should not have been a draw. This is a close fight, but overall JP is more skilled and likely to be motivated. Whoever shoots first with the wrestling is likely to get ahead quickly and think that will be JP. He is the favorite for a reason.

Baudot - Parisian has striking volume but only for one and a half rounds. Unlikely to have power to put out Baudot unless with some unexpected spinning attack. Not very likely to happen as most now aware of that risk. Baudot could get taken down which is trouble but seems unlikely. Parisian likely fades in round 2 -3 and Baudot likely takes over and maybe puts him away late. Baudot has better skills, better cardio and seems durable. Fairly confident play for me.

I respect your opinion for sure but I respectfully disagree regarding Armen and Moises not being locks. Gamrot is amazing, agreed but has not faced a wrestler on the level of Armen who has been training with Armenian Olympic medalists for this camp from what I hear. Gamrot has 5 round experience but not against this level of continuous wrestling attack and we saw he started to fatigue against CDF in round 2. His striking is good but Armen is better there as well. Armen also has the better bjj. So overall better skills, more reach, better cardio, better striking wrestling and grappling. Also not to discredit Gamrot's amazing achievements but strength of schedule in UFC is better for Armen. Gamrot has early finishes of Stephens, Holtzman and CDF due to a rib injury where he was beginning to slow down. I feel Armen's wins are better. I do really think Armen is a lock here and a confident play.

Regarding Moises, he is just better everywhere. One area Giagos is better is offensive wrestling, but cardio does not support that for more than a round. Striking is better and has very good counters and grappling is better. Giagos could possibly win round one but not likely to do much damage. After that Moises taked over. 3rd most confident play after Shavkat and Umar.

Hope that explains my thought process.

It's a close card. I think it will be one of the best of the year. I know all the picks or bets are risky but there is also good betting value if you are willing to take the risk! Maybe betting props in the close fights are better? There are some good value props

My apologies, I should reword! I don't know for sure. Only from what I have seen on tape. No personal knowledge. I think Gamrot has been ADCC European champ but got knocked out in the world event though unfortunate to go up against Lepri and Gary Tonon! I could be wrong but Armen seems slicker on the ground with very very good scrambles. does not get pinned down keeps moving and unlikely to get submitted though anything can happen! likely utilizes wrestling more than bjj here and keeps it tight with position rather than going for submissions against Gamrot who is very dangerous. Gamrot has very good takedown defense but will that hold up in later rounds when tired? This is why mma is fun! what a great main event and both should be top 5 soon!

And my friend, I would really like to see the winner of this fight Chandler, what a fight! I hope Chandler is not too fixed on fighting Mr McGregor because the killers are coming up the ranks!

@rah I have RDA. I think fizjev has great tdd and clearly knows what he’s doing but, RDA will spam td attempts until he gets them. I also think he has the better cardio and much more experience. It’s close and fizjev can definitely ko him on the feet, but RDA is much more aggressive at 155 and even though his last two fights aren’t against the elite of the division, he looked incredible in both affairs. He fights like how his opponents did at 170; aggressive and lots of wrestling. Even if he doesn’t have success, the constant attempts could slow down the cardio

I just tortured myself and rewatched some fights of Parisian and Baudot, to get a better idea of what to expect. Baudot likes to move around a lot and has ok boxing with his touch and go kind of striking style. Parisian is more well-rounded but is a very stationary kind of fighter that prefers to clinch or tries to take his opponent down. Both of them don't like fighting against guys that like to pressure and are all up in their face. Neither have great striking defence and don't have great takedown defence either... I would stay far away from this fight if I was a gambling guy. This fight is probably the most unpredictable fight on this card with Durden vs Buys being second. I'm still going to pick Baudot, because I think Parisian might get in trouble with Baudot's fighting style.
