I'm more confident in picking Barbarena than picking Lawler in this fight. I think it's fair to assume this fight will be a war. Both guys always bring it, but I don't know how much punishment Lawler can take at this age. Regardless, this fight has potential to be fight of the night.

Well my reasoning is, how much can barberena really take as well? At least Robbie’s chin has held up throughout the career, the only downside for him is grapplers; barberena isn’t a grappler whatsoever and probably has a worse grappling deficiency than lawler tbh. I think his chin id far worse than lawlers is or ever has been tbh

I actually have 0 questions about Robbie’s chin; he has been ko’ed twice in his career which is just unbelievable given 85% of his career is under zuffa and given the wars he’s been in, I have no reason to believe he can’t survive a brawl. Also, the only two knockdowns ever recorded against him were in his two ko losses. He’s got one of the best chins of all time imo

stats wise just so you know
barb averages around 5.60 strikes landed per minute
lawler averages around 3.70

barbs accuracy is a 50
lawlers is a 46

lawlers defense for strikes is a 60
bryans is a 45

they both dont average a single takedown a minute but lawlers percentage is higher for those wondering
lawler has 65 percent accuracy in getting the takdown
bryan has a 15 percent chance
65% tdd for lawler
55% for bryan

I'm going to watch some previous fights to refresh my memory and see how they might match up. I made my pick based on last performances of both men. To me Lawler didn't look great against Diaz. Diaz overwhelmed Lawler with punches, which he seemed to struggle with. I really wonder how that fight would've played out if Diaz was actually in fight shape.

also mental state has alot to do with fights IMO someone said that the diaz fight ate him up and thats why he came out the way he did compared to his few he just stated that in this fight with barb he doesnt want a war but hes ready for one and he also said his fans lit a fire in him because of how they supported him and apparently got him to be on the main card

Yeah, I've seen some sparring videos of Strickland and Turner sparring before. What makes this fight hard to predict, is the fact that Riddell is a very technical striker and has really good timing as well. The size difference is indeed the decisive factor in this fight and I'm really curious how Riddell handles it. I do know that he has been training with Blood Diamond and other bigger fighters at CKB, but it's still a big question mark what his actual gameplan is.
