Max is only 30 but I see that lost gaze in his eyes probably from taking so much damage over the years.
Hard to explain what I’m trying to say.

The problem is just that Max is too competitive to retire. I really don't see that happening anytime soon. Well... maybe when he finally gets KO'd, or gets finished the way Lawler was finished yesterday. That being said, Lawler is a great example of someone that should retire.

Predictions: 7 of 12 Winners, 3 Perfect, 440 Points   |   Tied for 2723rd

You people are utterly ridiculous. Pedro wanted out? He was probably up 2 - 0 and not only was he doing fine, he’s ******* Pedro Munhoz

You honestly are convinced Pedro got an offer to fight Sean, accepted the fight, trained his ass off, got into the ring on fight day, and only halfway through a mediocre second round did he decide to play possum in an attempt to evade fighting Sean? I love this sport but the fans are utterly ********

you can see O'Malley's finger jab his eye. https://twitter.com/DaggerHighlight/status/1543425670348279808

I'm not sure how tough you think people's eyelids are, but they're very very thin. We see fighters constantly get hit with punches and complain about being "poked" in the eye. that's the cornea being damaged.

I agree, but I think the move to LW is inevitable...especially now that he has no clear chance against the FW champ. he basically has to do the Wonderboy thing and hope that the champ gets dethroned and that he can somehow line himself up to be in the right spot at the right time. feels like he's taking on a ton of risk either way. I wasn't really trying to imply he should retire, but he will have to do something to change his career trajectory, otherwise it seems it will be a hard path downhill...

Pedro was hustling for a DQ within seconds. Notice his eye didn't tear up at all... which is odd but anyway it he says it's scratched, ok probably. It's not like he detached a retina though. Everyone has probably scratched their cornea at some point in your life and you probably just rinsed your eye and carried on with your day.
He was clearly losing and had no interest in competing as soon as he had a way out. He didn't wait to see whether his eye would recover. He wanted that sweet DQ win money.

@Hippie I know what you mean. It's a kind of simian obliviousness coupled with a lack of facial animation. BJ penn had it too, and doubtless still does. Max could go on with his career. He'd win a lot of fights. But I don't think he should do that.

I think Max will get slept in his next fight. Volkanovski shots seem to have real impact and the shots he took from Yair were wow. I honestly feel like the last 2 fights have taken years off his life and that it's only a matter of time till his chin cracks

Yeah, I get what you mean. Gaethje, Poirier, Whittaker and Max all have this in common. They should either go up or down a division or should just do fights that are fan friendly since they are all fun fighters to watch.

I gave it a look and it did remind me that O’Malley poked him in the eye in the first round, kinda forgot because I was blasted drunk when I was watching live. Maybe that first one damaged it alittle and push off on the second one completely compromised it.

It was probably 1-1 but all Pedro did was throw legs kicks and most of them were getting checked so are we judging all legs kicks as strikes even the ones that get checked?

Couple months ago I blew some resin into my right eye, I couldn’t open it up, every time I blinked the thing hurt like **** . the next day I had to go to hospital to get my eye sorted and it was fine thankfully. But damn having my eye hurt like that was one of the worst experiences I’ve had, I was disappointed that the fight was called off but **** every time I see someone’s eye get hurt I can’t blame them for freaking out, knowing that your vision could be permanently damaged is terrifying. I was disappointed but I can’t hate Pedro

I thought O'Malley won the first round, I think I be in the minority in that opinion, I thought O'Malley headshots were better then Pedro leg kick, And I also had a O'Malley by decsion prop so I should be the one getting mad because I lost money

But I just don't care that much, And I can't be mad at Pedro, Because for one thing,  O'Malley poke him in the eye, Follow the rules and you don't get punish for not following them, MMA fighter get away with flagrent fouls all the time,  Also, Eye pokes are werid, Some of the "worst" eyepokes I seen, don't even go deep

Also, None of us are in the octagon, Were just spectator to Gladiotors, Can't get to mad at them because were not in their

The problem is that you can't give that round to O'Malley just based on his checked leg kicks. Munhoz was way more active and won that first round in my opinion. Do I think that checked leg kicks are damaging? Of course, that goes without saying. Do I think judged should take this in account when judging a fight? Yes, I do think that they should. Though I don't think it's realistic right now because these current judges are basically boxing judges. Anyways, that's a different discussion. O'Malley was doing a lot more in the second round until the eye poke happened. I personally think Munhoz would've lost that fight if it continued, but we'll never know for sure.
