Erm, depends on what GGG has left in the tank.  Murata is decent, he's a top 10 Middleweight, was an Olympic Gold medalist, has 2 defeats but avenged both by dominant KO. He's a good solid boxer.
GGG was elite, but he's got some questions. His competition since the Canelo fights (2017&18) has been weak. The 1 good guy he faced, Derevyanchenko gave him hell, I think beat him, is the 1st guy I've ever seen visibly hurt GGG, to the body.
He's not been active, he's 40 and has also said he's kinda sick of boxing, he feels pretty bitter about the Canelo situation. He feels he was robbed in the 1st fight (he was!) Canelo failed that test(Mexican beef!) faced no real consequences. He's probably right to feel hard done by.

So yeah, I would be picking GGG to win but there are some red flags and some times elite guys just lose a step and get upset. Its also in Japan against a Japanese hero( Murata won an Olympic Gold medal, Japan loves their boxers)

I don't know if that answers your question?  I would say yes, Murata has a chance but I probably won't be picking him

Mikey that was great breakdown thank you. I saw Murata avenged both of his L's with Ko's, did not know about his olympic gold medal though

Father time catching up to GGG, facing a hometown hero in his backyard, getting hurt after the canelo fight and not looking like the same elite fighter

Think im gonna take a shot on the +400 underdog here

I could see this going to a decision in favor of Murata.
But then I can also picture the old GGG showing up and getting a knockout.
Either way, I'll be watching!!

First off, Rummy's Corner is one of the best, if not THE BEST, boxing channel on youtube.  I watch his recap of 90's Heavyweight boxing every few months since that's when i grew up and started watching boxing, and it's really engaging stuff.

5 years ago GGG would have run through Murata like nothing, but father time is undefeated.  I don't think he's getting another chance at Canelo so i question his mindset also coming into this.  Also this fight is in Japan, Murata home country.

All in all, -700 is too much to lay on GGG, but it's also a price that seems like the oddsmakers have full confidence in him.  I'll probably go with Murata at +430 just cause.  It worked for me in the Berchelt fight

2019 Fight of the Year - GGG vs. Derevyanchenko

Predictions: 4 of 5 Winners, 1 Perfect, 270 Points   |   Tied for 37th with 2 others

Good time to watch this fight if your thinking about betting on GGG this weekend.
This was Golovkin 2nd fight after the Canelo rematch. Derevyanchenko was an excellent boxer at the time of this fight(he's declined a little now). He was an extremely decorated amateur (like Murata) a top 5 Middleweight (like Murata) and an all action, front foot boxer puncher (also like Murata!)
This fight was many peoples 2019 Fight of the Year (Inoue Donaire was the other).
Really is a great fight. ENJOY!!!!!!!!

I think you guys might be giving Murata too much faith. Yes GGG is older and regressing, but Murata is there to get punched. Largely flat footed, come forward with lots of combinations and never takes his head of centerline. GGG loves guys like him and if he can muster 30% of his best self he should easily stop Murata in the mid to late rounds.

Agree with casual here. GGG is on the gradual down slope and I don't like his recent level of comp at all, but I kind of just can't imagine him losing to Murata. The thing about Murata is that he has a tendency to want to put his head down in the pocket, plant and trade. GGG is very similar in that regard but he's just out straight out better at it. He had way better body work also and Murata does get hit quite a lot in those exchanges, you can see that in both Brant fights. He also has pretty abysmal hand speed and footwork. He's more of a march-down plant-and-bang guy.

Lateish stoppage for GGG  around 8-9 IMO. Depends on how badly he gets leathered in his own backyard really.

I like Murata and he's a fun fighter + we've seen some upsets happen recently so I wouldn't be super surprised if it's another one of them but...he gets hit a lot. If you watch any of his latest fights (2 year lay off, btw) he has a style that would get wrecked by peak GGG. The only problem with this matchup is that it might be too taxing for a future fight if that's what DAZN wants, Murata really hits hard. I also don't think GGG will break down gradually, he's worse, sure, the Szeremeta/Sergey fights prove that, but I feel like he will crumble completely at some point and be done for instead of just getting worse through the years (don't think it's this fight, though).

Golovkin vs. Murata
Gennadiy Golovkin, TKO, R1
Yeah, despite having some questions about just where GGG is at I am going to back him to show up here. Murata is, like nearly all Japanese boxers, attack minded. I think that makes this fight fun but ultimately it gets Murata knocked out!

Nakatani vs. Yamauchi
Junto Nakatani
Junto Nakatani is great!!! If you are planning on watching GGG on DAZN I'd advise you to tune in an hour early so you can get a chance to see Nakatani. He is a really good boxer. He's tall, rangy for Flyweight, has a good jab with a solid back hand. Like most Japanese boxers he has a very attacking style. Yamaguchi at 8-1 is getting thrown in a little early (a Japanese tradition!) but he's no. 10 in the Ring Magazine ratings and he is a fun fighter. Just Junto is elite, I think Junto whoops the other 2 Champs at Fly(Sunny Edwards and Rey Martinez).

Yoshino vs. Ito
Masayuki Ito, DEC
On paper the closest fight on the card. Ito is a fairly recent(2018) WBO World Champion, I think he was signed with Top Rank? He was featured on ESPN anyway until he lost the title to Jamel Herring. Since then he's won and lost. Both wins and losses were to Japanese opposition and his loss was fairly controversial. Yoshino is the defending Champion (2 belts both Regional). He's actually lower ranked. Not sure about this fight? I usually side with experience so Ito but I feel like it's going to be a razor close fight, probably a split decision.

Proficient New Predictions

Predictions: 3 of 3 Winners, 1 Perfect, 175 Points   |   Tied for 115th

Yoshino vs. Ito
I like Shuichiro Yoshino at -170. He has a militant full guard and a glamorous takedown and also a ruthless hammerfist. Yoshino can threaten the enemy.

Nakatani vs. Yamauchi
I am enamored with Junto Nakatani at -2500. He has a perfect uppercut. Nakatani shall caress the cake.

Golovkin vs. Murata
I predict Gennadiy Golovkin at -500. He has an exotic anaconda and a brackish crescent kick and also a wacky bicycle kick. Golovkin is gonna ravage the masterpiece.
