Gustafsson was #2 contender only to DC when Smith beat him. 


Odezmir was #2 when Smith beat him. 


Rua was #8 when Smith beat him while Smith was not ranked. 


Smith’s most recent loses have come to the current champ and arguably the #1 or #2 contender. 


And the only reason Smith took his recent fights is because he is a savage and believed he needed to re-earn his spot in the rankings. But he should’ve known that people would ignore that he won and concentrate on his opponents rankings.

Smith’s loss to Texeira looked bad at the time and was ridiculed by most MMA media or pundits. 

And anyone who has seen Smith fight before, knows there were extenuating circumstances for the performance agains Rakic. But being the Lionheart that he is, he has called to run it back with Rakic after winning 2 fights while Rakic sits on ice.

Resume is never telling of a fighters skill, look at islam. He has 1 top 15 win (arman) and arman wasn’t even in the top 15 when they fought yet he’s going to be next in line for a title. Anthony smith has beaten some very good names and has some of the best bjj in the division, put some respect on his name

Smith folds every time he fights a top contender, Gus is a good win and while I don't rate Oezdemir I did say he was ranked at the time, but Shogun, Rashad..? Lol

Just because the division was in horrible shape at the time doesn't make him any good
