Fury FC 53: Lookin' For a Fight

After becoming a Free Agent, Dantas wanted to sign with the UFC. Although initially he sat waiting for the call from the UFC despite his 2 years of inactivity, earlier this year he took a fight in Shooto Brazil and now the opportunity to appear in Lookin 'for a Fight in a clash of styles against Jose Johnson which allowed him a great chance of signing with the UFC, but Travel Issues put him out of Fury 53. It's a shame because at the time when Aldo and Barao were solid champions in the UFC, Dantas did the same thing at Bellator. (all this in the last golden age of Nova Uniao). 

After losing his championship at Bellator against Caldwell (who despite being in decline at that time was one of Bellator's rising stars), in his finals he had 2 strong defeats but against great opponents: First he faced Michael MacDonald (Challenger to the UFC Bantamweight Championship and one of the best Bantamweight of that time) where in addition to being Knocked in less than a minute Dantas suffered a disastrous injury, in his last fight he was Knocked in Buzzer Beater (4:59) of the Second Round against Juan Archuleta, who would become a Bellator champion years later (he had a victory against Toby Misech in the middle of his fights against McDonald and Archuleta). Perhaps Dantas could do the same as Will Brooks or Eddie Alvarez in 2016 or 2017, but unlike them, his contract ended after his fight against Archuleta in 2019. 

The positive of this is that Mo Miller will have the opportunity to fight to stay in Fury 53 card fighting on short notice against Jose Johnson (due to Campbell (Miller's original rival) withdrew) and thus have the possibility of landing a contract in the UFC if he achieves a performance that impresses Dana White and the matchmakers, for His Johnson Part (who was originally set to fight Dantas) will be able to keep his chance to fight on the undercard, not waste his training camp time and be able to collect salary for his fight.

What a showing from Alberto Trujillo! Overcame early adversity to dominate the fight! I hope Dana signs him.

Damn i just noticed Johnson has like 40 armature fights, Don't think i ever seen someone with that many unranked mma fights lol That's a lot of experience.

Ogden and Holmes need to be signed. Hopefully Okanovic bounces back, because I honestly think he's UFC caliber, just wasn't his night. Anyway hope Ogden and Holmes get signed!
