I think Kay is more well rounded. Jasmine has really good wrestling but not very good in standup or with her gas tank. Kay has lots of experience at only 22 and is well rounded; pro boxing experience (she wasn’t very good but still) and she’s also a purple belt with some 10th planet training. She doesn’t have a great record but has fought a ton of really good fighters. Shes had a long layoff but I think she will come back improved

Glad y’all managed to squeeze a whole forum page out of the sparring disclaimer I included up front. Why not read a preface, ignore it, then type six paragraphs about having ignored it.

Fishrat's final opinion on Gane v N'gannou:

A) I'm taking Francis. Yes, Gane is the more sophisticated striker, but he'll need to get it right all night.
B) There is no value on Gane as a straight bet
C) There is value on Gane by Dec
D) There is better value on Francis by Dec
E) There is no value on Francis by KO/TKO
F) Gane shouldn't be the favourite. There shouldn't be any favourite.
G) Anyone who thinks sparring footage between partners has any significance for an actual fight is ********
F) Consider the above and refer yourself to the Garbrandt vs Dillashaw fiasco

Since you understand how the rules work, do you agree with me that barcelos vs valiev was fairly 29-28 valiev? I’m not seeing 10-8 round two because valiev was controlling 4 minutes of the round before getting dropped twice in one minute. The damage was there but the duration and effectiveness was not imo. Some people seem to think it should be a draw

@Mayo I just rewatched the clipped version, so not the full fight. But Yes, I would have scored R2 a 10-8. This is because a fighter need not control a full five minutes of a round to be granted a 10-8 score. The criteria state that:

A score of 10 – 8 does not require a fighter to dominate their opponent for 5 minutes of a round. The score of 10 – 8 is utilised by the judge when the judge sees verifiable actions on the part of either fighter. Judges shall ALWAYS give a score of 10 – 8 when the judge has established that one fighter has dominated the action of the round, had duration of the domination and also impacted their opponent with either effective strikes or effective grappling manoeuvres that have diminished the abilities of their opponent.

Judging works in MMA as a kind of tiered court circuit relative to value weightings, which fall into a hierarchy. These are Primary, secondary, and control. Here's where people get confused about it: The secondary and control criteria are slave powers to the primary criteria. They are 'plans B and C'. What this means is that the secondary and control criteria cannot factor into the judges' scoring if one fighter displays a clear advantage in the primary criteria.

What is the primary criteria? It is visible damage which causes an immediate experiential impact on the fight and is evidence that one fighter has done something to cause the fight to draw closer to a conclusion. If a fighter flash KO's another twice in a round, or floors them twice in a round, then yes, that would be considered a ten eight in the circumstance that the fighter who got floored didn't also floor the fighter who floored them.  It does not matter if Valiev, for example, was controlling the pace of the round, or was outpointing Barcelos, because those two things were rendered irrelevant by Barcelos displaying heavy dominance in the round via the primary criteria of visible immediate impact. It does not matter when in a round that dominance occurs, it simply matters that it does. The primary criterion is...insuperable.

That is the way of things in MMA scoring.

It isn't a perfect system. But there probably is no perfect system.

Interesting. I see how it should have been a 10-8 though judges scoring but I think that’s kind of silly that one minute of a round that an opponent was losing could be flipped to something as dominant as a 10-8 because of a near finish. I had that as a 10-9 but like you said, the scoring system isn’t perfect

I hate the use of 10-8, It just doesn't make any ******* sence, You get a 10-8 for laying on top of someone for 5 minute, Not doing much, But you **** someone up for 5 minute, No 10-8, I think a 10-8 should be a 10-8 for damage, No other criteira, I notice most 10-8 the stupid judge give out is for controling, Not alot of damage, Damage is the primary criteria, It should be the primary criteria for a 10-8, Any other system is just ********,

I give an example of the problem, Also i'm still pissed the judges score the Chris Guiterez vs Cody Durdan fight a draw, That was no draw, It was more a 29-27 for Guiterez than a 28-28. We can all agree that Durdan won the first and Guiterez won the 2nd and third, But Durdan got a 10-8 for laying on top of Guiterez  doing nothing in the first, But  Guiterez didn't get one , but 2 knockdown in the 3rd round and just ******* Durdan up, The 10-8 system is ****** in my oppion and that fight is the proof

I'll be ok if Raoni Barclos or Kyler Philips didn't get 10-8, If you don't get easy 10-8 for laying on top of people, that what pisses me off, Barlesos and Kyler are more derseving then most 10-8 i see,  A lot of 10-8 are just control, And they don't even do 10-8 levels of ground and pound

Yeah it is definitely scored incorrectly by most judges. I think it should be changed so that a 10-8 actually reflects dominance. If they had gave barcelos a 10-8 for the 1 minute of the fight he was winning it would have had a massively different result and would have made it seem like valiev struggled with barcelos when in reality he ****** up for 1/15 minutes and it could have cost him the fight. Well, it wouldn’t be a loss but still
