well that was not the explosive matchup we hoped, but Ngannou and is team had a very intelligent game plan here.

I fell asleep during the break between round 1 and 2 of the co-main and have to re-watch this morning trying to avoid spoilers. Those fights are so late, I don't know why the UFC  is not 1 hours earlier! Theres no NFL or NHL game at 1:00 in the morning...

Yeah I do wish they started earlier. Most ppvs go until 1 am I think that’s pretty customary actually. They should start an hour or 90 min earlier

Great Card!

This was a UFC to remember! So many great fights. We may have witnessed the greatest trilogy in the UFC and Ngannou winning the way he did was so impressive!

The evolution of N'Gannou

Everyone thought N'Gannou was a 1 trick pony. Everyone thought he would gas out. No one thought he could grapple. No one thought he could grind out a decision. All were impressed!

I think that's the weirdest thing I've ever seen. Ngannou winning a fight by wrestling someone

Michel Pereira is a well conditioned athlete. See him doing back flips and such in the back room pre-fight too?  He has cardio but everything is big movements. He dropped the first then clearly took the next too. It’s a pacing issue but if he reserved a bit more of that tank, he could be much scarier vs better competition

I don't know if it just me but it annoys me when fan cry robberies on close fight, I have no issue on people saying Moreno won, I have an issue when people say he got robbed, It was a split decsion type fight which could of gone either way, I don't really have a  opinion on who won the fight, Moreno did double him on stikes ,but he got dropped twice time in two different round, It one of those is what you value more A or B, Figgy just got the nod

I'm more pissed when people are crying Gane won, No he didn't, Just because you have a man crush on "the most techincal heavyweight ever", He got held down for the last 3 round, You don't win a belt with that, And the argument is that Gane did heel hooks in the 5th, 1 submession attempt doesn't ignore 3 minutes of top control, But don't worry Gane fanboys, He's winning the trilogy

I think fans should only cry robbery when they actully a robbery happen like Maycee vs Maverick, It only devalues the word, A robbery is more, How could they score that to that guy, Not they have to give a winner and they gave it to him

People think Gane won?  Lol. Hard for fans and betting community to keep biases outta their emotional opinions.

Look, I took Moreno and wanted him to win. I thought there was an argument but that’s FAR FROM A ROBBERY. I’d have to run it back. Moreno hurt Figgy too. Difference is he was sturdier on his feet and avoided going down. You can say it was partial balance and movement  but the bottom line is his butt or knee hit that canvas multiple times. You can hate that decision if you must. Who am I to tell you dont have the right to your own wrong opinions. It was a close fight. Respect to both guys. I may have to run that one back with more of an analytical eye than fan biased to give a 💯 opinion. Great fight.

My Score for Figueiredo vs Moreno.

Predictions: 5 of 11 Winners, 0 Perfect, 265 Points   |   Tied for 3243rd

1, 3, and 5 to Figgy. The 1st could go either way and maybe you could argue that Moreno's volume outweighed Figgy's late knockdown in the 3rd. Too sloppy of a performance from Moreno for me to convincingly give it to him.

I rarely toot my own horn, but can I at least get some props here? :)

12.28.2021 | 12:52 PM ET | Reply Report

The one other wild card for this match is Ngannou's wrestling. It took about 1 minute 40 seconds into the Stipe rematch to see Ngannou's wrestling improvements. Not surprising when it turns out he had recruited Cormier, Usman, Sterling, and Couture to help with his wrestling that camp. It's a valid gameplan to try and use his wrestling here to see where Gane is at in that department. Gane isn't very strong at takedowns himself (20%), but his TDD is at 100%, but still a pretty small sample...I think only like 6 or so TD have been attempted on him in his whole UFC career.
