Alright folks,

As you might know I'm Tapology Boxing editor. I know the majority of you guys are here for MMA, so was I originally. But for the last year or 2 there is a little more interest in Boxing on the site.

So here's a place to talk boxing.

The story of the Duke is incredibly sad, and the more I hear of the story the more I think he may not have had HIV like they accused. Morrison was never able to get them to release his blood samples, only claims of it being ironclad, and when he tried to get the Quebec commission to do a blood sampling publicly they declined. Outside of the accusations by the commissions, later his mother after death, the only person to accuse him was Lang but it seems like he was committing fraud and pretending to be a lawyer, and without evidence said Morrison was tempering with his own blood samples. Hardly someone to give a lot of stock too.

Another interesting Boxing mystery is that till this day George Foreman accuses his corner of drugging him just before the 'Rumble in the Jungle' super fight between him and Ali that was held in Zaire. Foreman has insisted since the fight happened that he was drugged before the fight, but the accusation really took off once Foreman published his personal memoirs "God in My Corner" where he explains what unfolded.

On one hand he could just be an incredibly sore loser. On the other this is Boxing and it was boxing during the 70s when fight rigging and fixing was still quite prevalent. I've taken the side of Foreman since his grills never let me down, neither will I let him down.

Weirdest callout ever.

Came across this while I was binging Ali fights on yt. I don't know much about Chuvalo, but he sure seems to be an interesting character.

Hopefully some of you guys took my advice and bet on Jamie Mitchell to beat Shannon Courtenay. She was a+600 underdog last week, closed at around +250. Easy money!

Tim tszyu is fighting Naoya Inoue, that rough fight for him. I hope he doesn’t get absolute wrecked as Inoue is the best boxer in the world

Haha, no Duck mate. Tszyu is not fighting Inoue. 1st of all Tszyu is 154lbs, Inoue is 118lbs. Bit of a mismatch there!
Tszyu is facing Takeshi Inoue, no relation. Still a decent boxer (former World Title challenger and top 20 guy).
Not P4P star Naoya good tho!

I'd put my money on Tszyu blasting Naoya Inoue if it happened.

Onto the next!!!

Well ****!!! That was a great night of boxing!!!!  Possibly the best Heavyweight Title fight of this century? Can't think of much that had more drama? Anthony Joshua vs Wladimir Klitschko, Lennox Lewis vs Vitali Klitschko come to mind.
That fight is why I love boxing and MMA. There's nothing that matches it for drama, excitement, sheer madness!! It wasn't even all that great a display of actual good technical boxing! But everything else, the momentum swings, the heart and will to win made it riveting!!!
Like I said after Usyk beat Joshua I'll say the same about Wilder. He's not a bum because he's lost to Tyson Fury. The best Heavyweight of this generation who he has had on the floor 4x and been seconds from victory!!!  Yeah, you can criticise his technique or lack there of, you can poke holes in his resume, what boxer can't you do that to?.  But he should have earned your respect with the show of heart and toughness he showed.
As for Tyson Fury, he's pretty damn special for a man built like a bag of milk isn't he!!!

There was also a great card in Liverpool earlier. Liam Smith showed the difference between World level and British level to Anthony Fowler. I feel a bit dumb for thinking Fowler would be too much. He was stronger, younger, faster, hit harder but Smith had all the experience and was just a better boxer. Weathered an early storm then took Fowler apart.
The Co Main would have been talked about as Fight of the Year of not for the madness that occurred in Vegas later. Now its not even the best fight of the weekend!!!! Ted Cheeseman vs Troy Williamson put on a classic British title fight. I advise you to check that out if you have a chance. What a fight! Lots of action, momentum swings and a big knockout!

Oh, also enjoy Shannon ****enay getting schooled!!! My only regret is that I have never got those 6 to 1 odds early in the week!

Anyway, a great night of fights. Now it's onto the next and it's another busy weekend. No stand out mega fights but there's some gems in there. I'll post some things, pick out what I think is the best of the bunch.

Navarrete

I'll start previewing this weekend by highlighting WBO World Featherweight Champion and former 5x World Super Bantamweight Champion Emanuel Navarrete.  He defends his title on Friday night vs Joet Gonzalez on ESPN.
Personally, I have Navarrete in my P4P top 10. He is everything I love about the Mexican style. Throws tremendous volume, has an iron chin and cardio for days!!!! He is a also an extremely active Champion. Many champions box 1 or 2x a year. Navarrete defended his 122 title 5x in a year!!! This is his 4th fight in the last 12 months.

If you haven't heard of him you should check him out. He's never in a boring fight!! Here's some

Andrade vs Quigley card is surprising good from top to bottom. Excited to see Murodjon back in the ring, and I'll be pulling for Quigley myself but I suspect Andrade to gets it done. Once GGG is done with Murata I'd love to see GGG fight Andrade at least once before retiring.

Joseph Vincent has a number of documentaries on the history of prominent old school boxers like Rocky Marciano, Joe Louis, and Sonny Liston has well as a few others from different eras like Ali, Foreman, RJJ, Hagler, Hitman Hearn, Pacman and Mayweather. The focus is on the fighter but it gives a good idea of what the era was like and the competition back then.

Their video on the Lineal Heavyweight Champions also gives a lot of details of the history of Boxing.

OfficeHanchoBoxing has a great video titled, "Boxing World Titles Guide" which gives a quick but good history of which belts used to matter, how the sanctioning bodies came to be and how over the years they've changed to be the organizations we know today. Also really insightful on which titles today matter.

With Rummy it's become a running joke in the comments section to fade his picks and he does also acknowledge this in his videos. It's not as if he always picks overrated favourites either, regardless of how close or one-sided the fight seems or whether he picks the favourite or the underdog, it WILL be wrong! This isn't due to a lack of knowledge at all and he gives a very strong argument for his predictions that add up logically, he's just unlucky as ****! I sure hope he doesn't bet on his predictions.
