As you might know I'm Tapology Boxing editor. I know the majority of you guys are here for MMA, so was I originally. But for the last year or 2 there is a little more interest in Boxing on the site.

I'm actually expecting this weekends fight to look similar to this one. Joe Smith Jr is a game MFer, big puncher and a World Champion himself who won't back

Many will say his best win was upsetting Bernard Hopkins and literally punching him through the ropes and out of the ring. Maybe his 1 round destruction of Andzrej Fonfara. Both impressive, both as a big underdog!
I like this performance best, also as an underdog (people keep writing this man off!) vs another Huge puncher, Columbian banger Elieder Alvarez.
This was a great win for Joe, proved he was more than just a slugger who picked up a couple of upsets. He technically, methodically broke down and beat Alvarez

Just found out that Jaime Munguia made $2 million to face a journeyman in an empty arena that hardly anyone watched on DAZN.
I don't mind fighters getting paid, I'm all for it.
I just wonder how much did Jiri and Glover make after putting on a fight of the decade in a packed arena watched by millions worldwide??
I don't really get involved in the MMA fighter pay debate, I definitely think they need more!. But this just made me think

Seriously though, that was terrible. Vargas was a hot prospect just last year. He stepped up vs Chon Zepeda, talked a tonne of ****, got slept inside a round. Has never been the same since. Looks like his boxing career is over!
You may have seen the Zepeda fight on 1 of those "When Talking TRASH goes Wrong!!!" YouTube vids

No shame in losing to Chon Zepeda, who is a legit World level boxer, who has ended a couple of guys with his straight Left.
It's the aftermath, Vargas fought another journeyman after Zepeda, before this weekend,. He won but he was also dropped x2! And the guy who beat him at the weekend was, no offence, a journeyman D level fighter. He was blasted out in under 2 rounds!
Again, you could build him up against a bunch of terrible guys(who definitely can't punch!). Get him 5 or 6 wins, maybe build his confidence. But what happens next time he's hit clean? And he will be hit clean at some point, it's professional punch face!
I don't know if it's worth it. I've seen many prospects career ended by a big puncher. I think Vargas is another one on the list
