Alright folks, 

As you might know I'm Tapology Boxing editor. I know the majority of you guys are here for MMA, so was I originally. But for the last year or 2 there is a little more interest in Boxing on the site. 

So here's a place to talk boxing.

Here is a guy who was touted to be good when he goes pro, but I found out he got into the drugs scene, few charges, but after he bet someone up real bad he got 4 years in prison, 18 months suspended... So he made some bad choices and is wasting his prime in jail and the drugs scene before that... I hope when he gets out soon he finds a good gym and goes pro.. What else is he gonna do with his life?

One of Japnese boxing's best kept secrets Ginjro Shigeoka is fighting tomorrow for the IBF Minimumweight belt against the champion, Mexico's Daniel Valladares. There's also another Minimumweight championship bout on the card with Japanese Champion Masataka Taniguchi. Perhaps already setting up a potential unifaction match between them 🤔

I always loved the fights of Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez, together with Lucas Mathysee, "La Joya" Chaves and Marcos "El Chino" Maidana, in my opinion they formed the best generation for Argentine boxing: in the times of the mid-2000's and mid-2010's (although it is clear that Locomotora Castro and Monzon may be steps ahead of those mentioned in terms of legacy). I think many fans know that Maravilla Martinez is still active today, boxing in Spain where he has lived for several years, but what I find surprising is that the WBA ranked him #2 and that he has There was much talk of a Title Contender against Michael Zerafa. 

From my point of view that is a fight that no serious commission should sanction (in boxing sometimes the athletic commissions do not allow two fighters to fight when the mismatch is very exaggerated as in the case of Andrew Cancio vs. Michael Jap from the Philippines). Maravilla has fought several times in recent years but the journeymen he has faced in Spain (several had decent records, but his last opponent literally had a record of 6 wins - 6 losses - 2 draws) do not compare to a Zerafa that has come from destroying to an Isaac Hardman who was an unbeaten prospect in Australia.

Maravilla Martinez in his first retirement after losing to Cotto already had a career for Hall of Fame, I think that fighting Zerafa would only be exposing himself unnecessary physical damage considering that he is a 47-year-old man, even that fight could be the same grotesque than the fight of ''Pretty Boy'' Zerafa against Athony Mundine, who was 46 years old when he was knocked out in the first round against Zerafa, in a ''Superfight'' that properly faced 2 great exponents of Australian boxing, but Mundine no longer had anything to look for in the professionals.

Did anybody watch the card this morning from Japan then?? 

It was available to watch, fairly easy for a Japanese show (notoriously the hardest for Western fight fans to view!). 
My man TimBoxeo posted the details of how to watch. Basically, download a Japanese app, Abema TV, sign up for a 2 week free trial, kick up the VPN and away you go! Simples!! 
Anyway, the card was the usual Japanese show, Knockouts and upsets!!!! 
My boy Ginjiro was robbed of his 1st World Title!!!!  Valladares blatantly headbutted him, came of worst, totally milked it, fight gets stopped for a NC. Valladares disappears back to Mexico with his title. IBF better enforce a rematch! 

Home town World Champion was flattened inside 2 rounds and lots of other KO's. 

Japanese boxing really is awesome, if only it was easier to actually watch it all!!! 

About Maravilla. Yeah, it's a sad, sorry situation.

Maravilla is a legend, probably the best Argentine since Monzon. Unfortunately legends go out sad more often than not in combat sports. 
As I get older I have to keep watching former favourites go out broken.
