Jorgensen is damn good, well-rounded. But he's just not gifted with any special athletic ability... not a great reach, not very tall, not overwhelmingly strong or fast... and therefore I just don't see him dangerous enough to favor him in this fight, even though I think Barao is perhaps getting a bit too much hype. Ultimately I've got to go the safer route with Barao, and expect him to fight for the title after this.

@Greg I would have to disagree about him not being overwhelmingly strong,I mean he did lift a guy off of his feet with a guillotine! haha
Also agree with Barao getting hyped a bit too much....Joe Rogan was on MMAJunkie Radio last night and he saw one of the guys betting slips and responded by saying "You picked Jorgensen?!? Wow......Good luck with that!"

Something along those lines anyway, which I think is pretty tasteless considering he is supposed to be unbiased towards both fighters

I think Jorgensen can and should fight at 125.

I think Barao should take one more fight against a top contender before a title shot. With Faber and Cruz filming TUF, he'd have to wait way too long for a shot.

@ skelliher I agree but with McDonald vs Torres lined up there are not that many fights left for him. I at least have no idea who he could fight that would make sense in terms of a contender match...

You could always give him Brian Bowles I suppose.

Barao has won 30 straight fights and has just dominated back to back top 10 opponents, why do you all think he needs another fight?

I don't think Bowles should be put in position of a #1 contender bout right now..the only fight that makes sense outside of a title shot for Barao is McDonald/Torres winner

Why do you want him to sit out for a long time? Faber/ Cruz still have to do TUF then fight. And knowing Cruz, he'll probably have another hand surgery after the fight. Let Barao stay active.

@messiah: Because most fighters don't like long layoffs ... and Cruz is not fighting Faber until the summer.

Yeah, with the streak he's on seems like he earned a title shot. Maybe they should let him decide if he wants to just hang out and wait for the title shot or take another fight? I dunno.

Does anyone know what the longest pro mma win streak is?

(Holy ****! check out Travis Fulton's mma record. the guy is 247-49-10 (1) :| haha wow    A 39 win streak. the longest ive found so far.
He is also on an 11 loss streak in boxing with a record of 14-26 with 26 losses by KO... They should have made a documentary about this guy or something. any other interesting records you guys know of?

Cruz will probably break his hand in the Faber fight as well making it a much longer layoff

@CashBrewyn Excellent idea, winner of MacDonald/Torres goes vs. Barao in a no. 1 contender bout in the summer.

Winner fights Cruz.

Thats the fight I wanna see. Both Miguel Torres and Michael Macdonald are both great fighters and could easily be a challenge for Barao. But I REALLY want to see Macdonald/Barao that **** would be good!

If Barao tried to fight the same way he did last night against Torres, I don't think it'd go in his favor. He was relying on his massive reach advantage, and he would actually be at a reach disadvantage against Torres. Barao definitely doesn't want to take it to the ground against Torres.

@Hybrid Mighty Mouse was fine in Torres' guard and I'd take Barao's BJJ over MM's any day.
