Buys was really having a hard time training in the USA to achieve his dream of fighting in the UFC, but now he does not have to stay in the United States, he can go back to South Africa to leave Xtreme Couture and go back to his old gym (Fight Fit Militia).
Returning to South Africa, Buys returns to the country where he is no longer a foreigner, he can reconnect with his friends and family in South Africa, return to the Gym where he has training partners like Don Madge, return to the EFC where he was a bantamweight champion before going to USA. In the gym he can polish up what he's good at (wrestling and grappling) and work hard on what he urgently needs to improve (his defensive striking).
JP Buys is only 25 years old, he has a career ahead and infinite time to improve as a fighter and build his path in MMA and who wants to consolidate himself as one of the historical references of MMA in South Africa.

And well, Montel Jackson seems to me a fighter who can be close to being a top 15 (good wrestling and an incredible reach for the category) only that he is in a category with a lot of talent and with guys like Gutierrez, Ricky Simon (Who is going to fight Assunção soon), Jack Shore, Nathaniel Wood, Casey Kanney, Danaa Batgerel, Timur Valiev, Kyler Phillips (who was ranked but lost to Paiva), Raoni Barcelos, Miles Johns, Said Nurmagomedov and Nate Maness. Fighters with great level and outside the top 15.
