Honestly the hands were close but that kind of kick should totally be legal anyway IMO. Hands being up vs barely touching while moving up doesn't really change the fact that it's a flush kick to the head. You can't punish him for great timing.

Maybe give Betsaev to Romero Cotton next?

Gwerder vs any random regional type fighter to keep building him up.

Sorenson and Samad both didn't look too great at all, wouldn't rush either of them in a higher stakes fight.

Even Bestaev recognised that Gwerder Won that fight... Although, Bestaev truly caught a fatigued Gwerder in that 3rd and Final Round and bust him up quite badly... Disappointed that Gwerder couldn't take Bestaev out in the contest, especially after hearing prior to the bout starting that Gwerder was an exceptional Striker... He his certainly strong, but he loads up way, way too much!! Gwerder needs to work on that, as you can see his punches coming a mile off! Great fight though! 🤔🤑🧐🥊👊💯💪👍

the problem with that kick is that the rules are unclear. i think gwerder would have stood up in a much different manner if he KNEW that you can kick people in the face while both of their hands are still touching the mat.
