Let's get real for a second here...

Predictions: 9 of 9 Winners, 2 Perfect, 595 Points   |   Tied for 10th with 1 other

OK, I've joked about these German events being full of KO's in the past but now I'm actually starting to wonder why they do cards where they are clearly looking for KO's for their prospects. I get that KO's are entertaining for the fans but why is it that the Germans specifically do shows like this? If you look at the undercards of British, French and sometimes American (I say sometimes as the Americans have been known to put on shows like this, especially the smaller ones) they have the usual "prospect VS journeyman" fights but the prospects are usually expected to win a decision against journeymen with tough chins who rarely get KO'd.

The Germans on the other hand want to see people get ****** up in fights that ultimately don't give the prospects many rounds to learn in and are harmful to the health of the journeymen. Do these shows happen purely for the sake of the fans? Are German boxing fans more bloodthirsty than others? Have German boxers historically been KO artists and they feel the need to keep up tradition? I just don't understand how these fights get sanctioned, especially with all the focus on concussions and CTE these days. Maybe I'm thinking too deep about this but then again maybe I'm not. After all, can you really think too deeply about an issue as serious as fighter safety? I kinda feel a bit awkward writing this post as I feel like I'm starting a conversation about an issue that's a bit taboo but when I pick a card and my response to every fight on it is "how the **** was this sanctioned?" then perhaps we need to question these events a bit more thoroughly.

Thank you for listening to my TED talk.
