I'll be curious to see Mark. I love watching the hyper specific specialists fight at the upper levels. It harkens back to the original premise of the UFC, and seeing different martial arts clash.

And I think Gastelum is a live dog here to take over the later rounds with volume. But I dunno. This whole card looks like prelims. Cannonier-Gastelum should be three fights from the main event on a PPV.

Jred is getting old and Gas is fat and losing his luster too I believe this fight will be main worthy just not on paper.

Guida vs. Madsen
Mark O. Madsen, SUB, R1
I don't trust Madsen's cardio. He's not a lock by any means.

Brahimaj vs. Palatnikov
Ramiz Brahimaj, SUB, R3
This will look like the Vierra/Stolfuz fight, submission artist comes on strong in the later rounds, rocks his opponent and sinks in a choke.

Prediction Comments

Predictions: 7 of 12 Winners, 4 Perfect, 500 Points   |   Tied for 330th

Cannonier vs. Gastelum
Kelvin Gastelum, DEC
Gastelum is a better overall fighter. Cannonier should be hedged with a KO, but he was exposed by Whitaker and Gastelum will just take this guy down over and over. Cannonier will gas and this is 5 rnds. His Cannons are always live though.

Knight vs. Cherant
William Knight, TKO, R1
Knight has lots of 1st Rnd KOs. Cherant has lost to Menefield pretty easily. Damn near rolled over. Knight will come in and KO this guy in the 1st rnd.

Sherman vs. Porter
Chase Sherman, TKO, R1
Porter is older but heavyweights age well. Sherman was hyped and had a decent last fight. The younger sherman will come in here and get the KO.

Pichel vs. Hubbard
Vinc Pichel, DEC
Pichel looks good. Hubbard got a good win. This willl be a close fight as well. Need to watch the tape here.

Saldaña vs. Lingo
Luis Saldaña, DEC
Saldana lost his last fight, but this will be his chance to redeem himself. Lingo is inexperienced and the UFC is setting Saldana up here with a win. He should win. He will probably lose due to Karma, but we'll see. His length should help keep the distance and out point Lingo.

Guida vs. Madsen
Mark O. Madsen, DEC
Guida is old. Madsen is young. Madsen is world class wrestler. +4 takedowns in this fight. Madsen wins here, Guida will not pull a Vanatta vs Grundy

Brahimaj vs. Palatnikov
Sasha Palatnikov, DEC
This will be a close fight. Sasha has to keep this standing and knock this guy out. Ramiz is going to look to get this to the ground, but his limited UFC experience and non-existent standup is going to be a problem here. Will need to check out Sashas cardio and TD Defense, but he should get the job done here

Malecki vs. Nunes
Josiane Nunes, TKO, R1
Nunes is going to come out punching with high volume. Shes like a rabid wolverine. Pretty short but stocky and strong. This will be a test for both young fighters and Malecki can use her height and reach to keep the distance, but Nunes isnt the type to stand back so i think she will be pushing the pace and getting up in Maleckis face. Malecki doesnt have power and Nunes is going to know that. She wont be respecting her and she will close the distance.

Martinez vs. Strader
Mana Martinez, TKO, R1
Martinez is a 1st rnd KO machine. Strader has 1 loss in UFC and this will be Martinez debut. See alot of KO artists thrive in the debut lately, so im going to lean in that direction here. Not sure what the cardio looks like on either of these guys, but at 135, they should be ok.

Roberts vs. Bahamondes
Roosevelt Roberts, SUB, R1
Roberts is the local pick here. Looks like he has more experience and all around game. Bahamondes last wins were at 170, so maybe the weight cuts arent so great for him. Bet against him last fight, and going to do the same here.

Casey vs. Jojua
Liana Jojua, SUB, R1
Underdog pick here - Jojua has alot of Rnd 1 subs. Casey doesnt look particularly good at 9-9 although she has the height and reach advantage. Jojua win over Belbita a similar opponent to Casey looks great. Have to watch Jojuas loss to Moras, it looks really bad. This is just a flyer for now. Great odds at the moment.

Razak Alhassan vs. Neto
Abdul Razak Alhassan, TKO, R1
Neto is having his first fight against Alhassan who has alot of UFC experience. Alhassan knocked out NIko Price who can take a punch. Neto will be looking to take this to the ground. Need to watch tape and research Alhassans TD defense. Thats going to be the key here. May change this pick based on research.

Predictions: 7 of 12 Winners, 4 Perfect, 500 Points   |   Tied for 330th

Pantoja vs. Royval
Alexandre Pantoja, DEC
Pantoja will keep this fight standing. Royval wins all fights by sub and loses all fights by decision. Pantoja has lost to Figgy and Askar who were/are best in the division. Royval has beat some good opponents too, so this one just comes down to whether or not the fight stays standing.

Kelleher vs. Pilarte
Domingo Pilarte, DEC
Kelleher has ALOT more UFC experience than Pilarte. Pilarte has a 10 in reach advantage and has beaten the likes of Adrian Yanez and Vince Morales. He had a bad outing against Colares, but maybe that was just first time UFC jitters. Looking to see Pilarte use his length here to piece up Brian.

Another card that could over-deliver if it holds. Unfortunately, this could become more like the Strickland/Hall card with 2-3 cancellations.

Definitely some interesting names sprinkled into this card. Pantoja/Royval is just as good as the main event IMO. Cannonier had Whittaker hurt bad at the end of their fight and the performance Gastelum put on against Izzy is legendary at this point. I think Cannonier wants a statement win and will do anything to put Gastelums lights out (which would be a HUGE statement as it's never been done).

Knight/Cherant, Roberts/Bahahmondes and Strader/Martinez are all solid fights. Mildly interested to see how Madsen does against Guida (definition of a measuring stick fight).

Razak Alhassan vs. Neto
Antônio Braga Neto, TKO, R2
I wish there was more tape out there on Antonio all I can find is him vs Giles. But he's constantly pulling out of fights so if this even happens, it's takedowns vs chin. Antonio slowed down a lot once he started to get pieced up in the second and he didn't even try for a takedown even though that worked great in the first. His takedowns seem pretty good. But as he was taking damage he got worse and worse. Plus he went 2/8 against the guy before that who was a striker. As far as Abdul, I think there's going to be a level of how menifield was yesterday, everyone and there mom about how he gasses after the first so he on purpose constructed a game plan to last. Same thing here but with take down defense. I feel like he thought he was just going to walk through malkoun (one of my proudest picks this year) and after he got wrestle ****** by him he will take that aspect more seriously and everyone will be commenting props to Abdul he really improved his TDD and gas tank. we didn't see that coming. With that said I think he fights a little tentatively in the first to really focus on not getting taken down and as some damage gets built up on Antonio he goes in for the kill in the second. If he does get taken down I think he has the strength at least early to avoid a sub, if I'm wrong about how this plays out I think Antonio is live for a sub late. Abdul opened as -270 and is now -125, if that closes a bit more I may take a shot.

Cannonier vs. Gastelum
Jared Cannonier, TKO, R2
I understand Cannonier is returning back from surgery from a broken arm suffered in the loss to Whittaker. I'm still taking him in this fight. This is not an easy tune up fight on a return. Kelvin could still surprise us with some flashes of what we known him to be. But Cannonier's size and strength is the biggest difference maker to me. Kelvin went 5 rounds with izzy/whittaker but cannonier is going to put him out.

Pantoja vs. Royval
Brandon Royval, SUB, R2
Another person who is returning from an injury sustained in a fight. But the ceiling is high for Brandon. I am high on him. I am just banking on him finding a sub. He's crafty on the feet and off his back. He's always active anywhere the fight goes. He will fight for your money until the very end.

Kelleher vs. Pilarte
Brian Kelleher, TKO, R1
Kelleher grabs a KO this fight.

Knight vs. Cherant
William Knight, TKO, R1
First round ko.

Sherman vs. Porter
Chase Sherman, TKO, R2
Gorilla only KOs people who aren't good. Soooo yeah.

Pichel vs. Hubbard
Austin Hubbard, TKO, R2
Hubbard got this. TKO/DEC

Saldaña vs. Lingo
Austin Lingo, DEC
I NEED TO TAPE THIS ONE. This isn't my pick.

Guida vs. Madsen
Mark O. Madsen, TKO, R2
Clay didn't want a recognized name. Welllll to the general audience who are justbleed people you got it. But unfortunately you're ****** in this match up. TKO/DEC

Brahimaj vs. Palatnikov
Ramiz Brahimaj, DEC
NEED TO TAPE THIS. NOT OFFICIAL PREDICTION.

Malecki vs. Nunes
Josiane Nunes, SUB, R2
NOT MY PICK, need to tape this and see how Nunes standup/takedown/trips/grappling/sub defense.

Martinez vs. Strader
Mana Martinez, TKO, R1
This is going to be a wild exchange between the two until Strader gets put down and stopped via tko.

Casey vs. Jojua
Liana Jojua, SUB, R2
Cortney casey hasn't impressed me at all. All she is known for is flipping off Felice in the cage. Lol.Can't say much about Jojua other than she's sexy as ****. She got GnP'd by Moras....Sarah Moras...yeah...but if i'm going to lean a way it'll be an upset Jojua sub.

Razak Alhassan vs. Neto
Antônio Braga Neto, SUB, R1
This is make or break for both men. I'm going to look for Neto to get alhassan to the ground and submit him in the 2nd the latest.

I just don't know how to rate Royval. Almost all of his best wins come from crazy scrambles where he ends up in a great position. It's obviously not "luck" if he keeps doing it, but it still feels flukey. I'm not sure I've seen him beat someone decent straight up with fundamentals.
