Aldo VS. Munhoz

Predictions: 3 of 4 Winners, 1 Perfect, 175 Points   |   Tied for 3874th

Bring on the calf kicks. Calf kicks will be blasted here and it may just be a matter of who’s calf gives first. I believe Aldo is the more sharp fighter with his strikes, plus he has the experience leverage, safe pick for me here will be Aldo but this matchup could go either way

Luque VS. Chiesa

Predictions: 3 of 4 Winners, 1 Perfect, 175 Points   |   Tied for 3874th

Matchmakers did great with this one. I believe it’ll be a matter of Luque being able to defend the grappling of Chiesa, if he can then he wins, if he can’t he loses. Chiesa also doesn’t make himself a punching bag neither. This a tough one to call.

Luque is dangerous everywhere, Chiesa has some serious submission skills but an incredible lack of defense for submissions. Luque has an underrated ground game, all around game. He seems tougher to finish, hits harder, could be a bad night for Maverick.

True. It’s hard for me to doubt Chiesa after seeing the way he beat RDA and pretty much controlled him the entire fight, was very impressive with knowing how well rounded RDA is on the ground

Munoz Jr. vs. Simmons
Johnny Munoz Jr., DEC
Simmons' whole style is based on looking for takedowns but the issue with that is Munoz is extremely good off his back and would welcome the takedowns all day. Munoz likes to throw a lot of kicks and I think he frustrates Simmons a bit with them because he's taller. Munoz has some alright takedowns, he might have a hard time taking this fight down to the mat because Simmons is strong in the clinch too but I do think Munoz can out point Simmons with his kicks

One thing I say about both way of this fight, Vicente haven’t fought a wresler in at least 5 year and  Chiesa haven’t fought anyone violent  or powerful like Vicente at least since lightweight, or forever. I notice this with Wonderboy last mouth, that he haven’t ever really fought a top grappler, and then he lost a decsion due to wrestling to Gilbert Burns.

ModestMan Chiesa controlling RDA isn't that great my man. RDA isn't a real 170 guy. He lost grappling matches to Cerrone. He looked good against Paul Felder who had no camp and solely marathon training. I think Chiesa doing what he did to Beneil is more creditable but at the same time Chiesa was way too big for 155.

Lewis vs. Gane
Derrick Lewis, DEC
Ciryl Gane will use his footwork and distance management to pick Lewis apart for 5 rounds, maybe even getting a late finish if he attacks the body.

Not sure why I think everyone is going to play it so safe. I can't imaging Gane wading in against Lewis, but I can see him connecting on a good counter and sending him to la-la land. More likely he uses his superior technique and outpoints the guy.

Have we overrated the meme of Derrick Lewis?

Predictions: 7 of 11 Winners, 3 Perfect, 465 Points   |   Tied for 2488th

A little bit? He's obviously one of the hardest punchers of all time, and he's almost never out of the fight. But as we saw before crucial mistakes, Blaydes and Volkov were fighting Lewis' fight and outclassing him. Lewis isn't so far removed from fighting Latifi and Blagoy, both of whom stood right in front of Lewis and banged, and it was a standstill.

And if we zoom even further out and look at the last guy with a competent ground game Lewis fought, DC was passing guard like it was a practice. I don't expect this to go to the ground much, but Gane has great submissions. If it goes there, I dont think Lewis could do anything to stop a heel hook or something.

Gane will be out of range, destroying Lewis' legs and popping him with jabs every time Derrick tries to step in. When Lewis makes fun of himself and says it'd be pathetic for the heavyweights if they let him be champ, I kind of think that's true. Skilled heavyweights are supposed to be able to solve this puzzle.

Derrick Lewis is one of my fav fighters...I'll never forget when he KO'd Travis Brown then said "Where Ronda Rousey fine ass at?"

I think the KO over Blaydes was a little flukey. Blaydes dipped his head and Lewis let up an uppercut....I dont see a guy like Blaydes making mistakes like that too often but that's how this sport goes.

I do think Gane wins..he's just so precise and calculated...hard to catch a guy like that.

And @Erison....I would love to see this fight go to the ground...but I think Gane would need to be in danger to try and take Lewis down..He can piece him up standing and avoid the big power. Gane ground game +Lewis get up game would be cool to see what happens. Is Gane strong enough to keep Lewis down if he gets him down? Nobody else has been able to that I can think of.

Also..I'm in on Chiesa as a dog play. This man is always under rated but he's been putting it together even though he's been in the booth a lot lately. He made Neil Magny look like a regional scene fighter. I keep fading Luque and I keep getting it wrong...but I think Chiesa can enforce a grapple heavy gameplan and possible tire Luque out.

@erison You skipped right over Oleinik. he's the last grappler who Derrick fought and he was in a few bad positions as well in that fight by a guy he significantly outweighed

Oh yeah, Oleinik's another one. Derrick could knock him out with a few punches at this stage, and still managed to find himself nearly choked out. I'm also going back and looking at just how many times Derrick's been hurt badly to the body in the last few years. Nearly KO'd with pretty normal body punches and kicks. Volkov, Dos Santos, even Blaydes seemed to hurt him to the body.

Gane throws a lot of good body kicks. He throws the front kick to the body like it's a jab.

Leonardo vs. Gatto
Victoria Leonardo, DEC
I like her in this one, I think her aggressive striking can give Gatto some issues on the feet, her striking is a bit poor however she's very young so she could've improved a lot since her last fight. Leonardo should try and keep this one standing, Gatto has some good subs off her back and Leonardo can absolutely win this one if she avoids going for takedowns and avoid getting taken down herself

As with every time Lewis fights, I hope all the gameplans and analysis get thrown right out the window with a huge bomb that makes everything else irrelevant. God, I love that wrecking machine of a man. When he KO'd Blaydes I laughed so hard I almost threw up
